Role description
Robert Half is recruiting for an Art Director on behalf of a leading global e-commerce apparel and lifestyle brand committed to providing customers with high-quality, stylish, and affordable essentials. This role plays a key part in defining and evolving the creative direction and visual identity for product imagery and digital presentation across multiple platforms. Reporting to the Creative Director, this role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to develop imaging guidelines, elevate visual standards, and ensure brand consistency across all customer-facing content.
Location: Midtown Manhattan, NYC (onsite)
Duration: 4-month contract
Hours: 40 hours/week
Pay Rate: $68-70/hour
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the creation and implementation of comprehensive imaging guidelines, including mood, posing, hair/makeup, facial expressions, lighting, and composition to maintain brand consistency across multiple studio locations.
• Establish and document formal standards for background colors, visual guardrails, and photography techniques to ensure cohesive visual identity.
• Develop and facilitate training programs for studio teams and creative partners to drive seamless adoption of new guidelines.
• Refresh and maintain Customer Experience (CX) documentation, collaborating with operations to ensure scalable processes for ongoing updates.
• Create seasonal styling templates to ensure consistency across all collections and seasonal campaigns.
• Partner with brand and creative teams to develop e-commerce brand guidelines that complement existing editorial standards and unify the visual language.
• Conduct end-to-end customer journey reviews to identify gaps and opportunities for improving the brand experience.
• Collaborate with studio, product, brand, and CX teams to maintain high creative standards and ensure brand alignment throughout the process.
Basic Qualifications
• 6+ years of experience in art direction or creative direction, with a strong background in fashion and e-commerce.
• Demonstrated success directing retail photography, studio production workflows, and post-production processes.
• Proven ability to develop and implement creative guidelines for large-scale projects.
• A portfolio showcasing successful imaging direction, photography standards, and brand visual identity work.
• Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other industry-standard creative tools.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management experience.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate creative concepts and vision.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience driving e-commerce creative direction for major retail or fashion brands.
• Background in fashion styling, editorial direction, and multi-category product photography.
• Proven experience training and mentoring creative teams across multiple studio locations.
