With a focus on quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction, Medline has established itself as a trusted partner in the healthcare industry. The company operates globally, serving hospitals, clinics, and healthcare providers with a broad portfolio of medical supplies, equipment, and technology-driven services. As part of its ongoing digital transformation, Medline invests heavily in cutting-edge technology and talent to enhance its operational capabilities and customer experience.
About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud-Native Back-End Developer to join our Northfield-based E-Commerce IT team. This pivotal role involves leading the design, development, and implementation of scalable, resilient, and high-performance cloud-native applications. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in modernizing Medline's e-commerce platform, ensuring seamless integration with SaaS solutions, and embedding best practices for system reliability and operational excellence. As a senior team member, you will provide technical leadership, mentor junior developers, and champion innovative architectural solutions that align with our strategic goals. Your expertise will drive the adoption of microservices, container orchestration, event-driven systems, and low-code integrations to create a robust digital commerce environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with over 10 years of software development experience. A minimum of 6 years in cloud-native environments and microservices architecture is essential. Proficiency in Java (Spring Cloud), Node.js, and cloud platforms such as Azure is required. Experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and service mesh technologies like Istio is critical. Candidates should have extensive knowledge of event-driven architectures, messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ, and reactive programming frameworks. Familiarity with modern design patterns such as CQRS, Saga, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) is necessary. Additional qualifications include experience with low-code platforms, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform and Helm. Certifications in Kubernetes, cloud platforms, or low-code solutions are preferred.
Responsibilities
Design and develop innovative microservices and micro-frontends leveraging frameworks like Spring Cloud and Node.js to ensure scalable and maintainable applications. Drive technical excellence by establishing best practices for code quality, performance, and reusability. Lead architectural discussions, conduct design reviews, and provide strategic technical guidance aligned with business objectives. Manage deployment, orchestration, and optimization of applications within Kubernetes clusters, utilizing features such as service meshes and operators to enhance microservices communication and resource efficiency. Develop event-driven architectures using tools like Kafka, RabbitMQ, and reactive frameworks such as Spring WebFlux to support high-throughput, real-time systems. Integrate enterprise applications with low-code platforms like OutSystems and Azure Functions to accelerate development cycles and improve agility. Define and implement modern architectural patterns, including DDD, Hexagonal Architecture, and the Strangler Fig pattern, ensuring systems are scalable, secure, and maintainable. Promote modern programming paradigms, including reactive and functional programming, to improve system performance and developer productivity. Mentor and guide development teams through workshops, code reviews, and technical training, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning. Identify opportunities for process and technology improvements, implementing monitoring and observability solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack to maintain system health and optimize performance. Continuously seek innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve system resilience.
Benefits
Joining Medline offers an opportunity to be at the forefront of healthcare technology innovation. We provide a competitive salary package aligned with industry standards, ranging from $132,600 to $199,160 annually, with bonus and incentive eligibility.
