The Opportunity
The world of retail is changing and QVC US is embracing its next chapter. We have an opportunity in our growing Women's Apparel division. This role is oversees personality designer brands such as Joan Rivers, Martha Stewart, and our National Denim category (NYDJ, Driftwood, Liverpool, Warp & Weft). This role is a stepping stone to our Buyer II and Senior Buyer roles within QVC Group. This role is based in our West Chester, PA Studio Park offices.
The primary responsibility of the Buyer I is to develop, negotiate and execute effective merchandising strategies for their assigned portfolio. These strategies must straddle Digital, Linear, and Social Commerce. The Buyer I role must remain curious by seeking to understand what motivates our core customer to buy to curate an assortment that surprise & delights her every day. The Buyer I has ownership and accountability for strategic and financial planning, purchasing and managing financial objectives. The Buyer selects products based on relevant trends and understand how to translate them into products for Omni Channel retail. They will educate and communicate with vendors and cross-functional departments. The Buyer I is accountable for leadership and management of portion of team.

Your Impact
• Develop and execute merchandising strategy for all sales channels (omni -digital, linear, and social) for assigned portfolio of brands and product categories.
• Curate impactful and meaningful assortments that surprise & delight customers across multple brands and sales channels.
• Maintain the assortment for assigned merchandise categories and building omni channel (digital, social, linear) strategies.
• Own the National Denim category; fostering relationships with Market Vendors such as NYDJ, Driftwood, and Seven7 Jeans, while incubating new partnerships with relevant and customer right brands.
• Develop, negotiate terms, and purchase merchandise that delivers on multiple key performance indictators (i.e., topline sales, sell through, inventory turn, profitability, return rates, customer reviews).
• Analyze item, category, and other relevant sales to follow trends and react based on performance.
• Analyze the productivity of each vendor and category within products of responsibility.
• Evaluate customer-buying behaviors and identify trends, remain curious by seeking to understand what is motivating the customer, leveraging insights to influence go forward strategy and behavior.
• Maintain a high level of product elevation and quality while selecting product.
• Responsible for daily office functions (e.g., maintaining spreadsheets (can write advanced macros), item creation, etc).
• Manage, train, and coach an Assistant Buyer through effective delegation, project management, and real time feedback loop.
• Manage Product Lifecycle from item creation, to issuing purchase orders, processing through Quality Assurance and photography.
• Become a product and brand expert and advocate; understanding what motivates the customer, what each brand means to the cusotmer and to the Company, and leaning into What Needs to be True for each brand to win.
• Establish relationships with internal Design, Technical Design, Sourcing, Quality Assurance, Category production, eCommerce, Legal, Social Marketing, Multi Channel Planning, Sales, and Planning to ensure products are presented to our customer properly.
• Establish and maintain healthy vendor relationships. Responsible for vendor communication, education and preparation.
• Communicate and pitch merchandising strategy and business cases to senior leadership and executives; demonstrate strong oral and written presentation skills, understanding your audience to highlight mission critical information to gain support.
