Buyer - Dresses The Cato Corporation is seeking individuals who are interested in a career in Merchandising to join our team as a Buyer. Versona is a unique fashion destination offering apparel and accessories including jewelry, handbags and shoes at exceptional prices every day. Cache merchandise can also be found at www.cache.com or at www.shopversona.com/cache. We are seeking individuals who are interested in a career in Merchandising to join our team as a Buyer. Job Summary: The Buyer supports the brand objectives and deliver sales and profit plans. They work effectively with all cross-functional partners (i.e. Planning & Allocation, Stores, Marketing & Visual, Product Development etc.) to achieve department plans. They manage and gather customer and competitive information that drives the strategic view of the line. They have an eye for fashion trends and are able to translate that into business results. Responsibilities: β€’ Develop and execute an Omni-channel merchandising strategy that align to company financial goals, drive top line sales and margin; β€’ Manage merchandise receipts and open to buy including markdown strategies; β€’ Initiate the development, purchase and delivery of merchandise assortments; β€’ Negotiate all aspects of product purchasing with vendors; β€’ Interpret fashion trends for the Versona customer; β€’ Communicate merchandise information to appropriate cross-functional team members; β€’ Shop competition and Versona stores regularly; and β€’ Train and mentor direct reports; motivate and encourage success Requirements: β€’ Possesses a proven history of fashion buying experience in a specialty retail organization; β€’ Results oriented, creative and analytical; β€’ Proven track record of increasing sales and driving profitability; β€’ Excellent leadership skills; β€’ Excellent communication, organizational and problem solving skills; β€’ Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail; β€’ Ability to work independently along with cross-functional collaboration; β€’ Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook β€’ Ability to travel to stores and competition; and β€’ Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience The Cato Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
