Role description
Summary of Position: We are seeking a visionary and experienced Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to lead the marketing strategy and execution for one of Pickleball’s most storied brands – Paddletek. As a key member of the executive team, the CMO will shape and execute a comprehensive marketing plan that crisply executes on product marketing efforts, fuels brand growth, deepens customer engagement, and drives revenue across all channels. This role demands a strategic leader with deep expertise in product development, product management, consumer lifestyle marketing, brand building, and omni-channel performance marketing. The ideal candidate combines creativity with analytical rigor, has a passion for storytelling, and a proven ability to scale our brands through both traditional and digital media. The CMO will oversee product management, branding, content, growth, promotion, communications, and insights functions, while working cross-functionally to support product innovation and market expansion. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will possess a tremendous amount of flexibility and resourcefulness regarding traditional duties and responsibilities. The work will continue to change; however, the following functions will form the foundation of the position. • Develop, articulate, and execute the overall marketing strategy aligned with the company’s business objectives. • Drive brand positioning, differentiation, and brand equity to enhance market share and brand awareness. • Develop and lead the full funnel marketing strategy across brand, performance, content, partnerships and retention. • Build and refine the brand identity and voice to resonate with target audiences across all touchpoints. • Optimize multi-channel marketing efforts to reach target audiences effectively. • Ensure consistency across all consumer touchpoints including packaging, advertising, digital, retail and customer experience. • Foster relationships with key business partners, external agencies, vendors, media outlets, and influencers to maximize marketing reach and impact. • Establish KPIs and track performance, leveraging data and insights to drive performance, optimize marketing spend, and guide decisions across product positioning, messaging and targeting. • Execute marketing initiatives and lead go-to-market efforts for new product launches, coordinating across product development, operations, and sales. • Lead and mentor a team of marketing professionals, providing guidance, feedback, and support to drive excellence in marketing execution. • Lead the development of customer insights, market trend analysis, and competitive research to inform decisions across product development, content strategy, and growth initiatives. • Curate pricing strategies that maximize profitability while remaining competitive in the marketplace. • Manage marketing budgets, allocating resources effectively and optimizing marketing spend to achieve maximum ROI. • Act as a brand ambassador, representing the company’s values and maintaining a consistent brand identity across all touchpoints. • Stay well-informed regarding the industry and emerging marketing technologies. • Guide product management best practices from market research and segmentation, through product development, and into the product release and post-release lifecycle management process. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or related field. MBA Preferred. • Fifteen years’ B2C marketing experience. Sports industry experience a plus. • Proven track record of developing, managing, and executing wide-ranging marketing campaigns across B2B and B2C verticals. • Proven track record of success driving revenue via social media, direct-to-consumer, and 3-P (Amazon) markets. • Experience managing digital marketing and customer engagement platforms including social media and website (Shopify) platforms. • Strong business sense. • Proven ability to build a brand from strategy through execution • Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross functional teams and the ability to lead, develop, and coach employees • Proven expertise in both brand and omni-channel performance marketing • Proven success managing product lifecycles from research through end of life. • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks/projects • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills. • Proficient in creation and use of financial modeling tools to support business planning.
