We are seeking a Data Engineer with at least 5 years of experience to lead the design and development of our analytics and data infrastructure. This is a mid-to-senior level role for someone who is comfortable taking full ownership of data systems in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You will work on-site, reporting directly to the Senior DevOps Engineer, CEO, and management team. Your work will play a foundational role in enabling intelligent decision-making across product, marketing, and operations. From building ETL pipelines to instrumenting behavioral analytics, you will help bring clarity and strategic insight to a high-volume, real-time commerce platform.
About the Role
This role involves leading the design and development of analytics and data infrastructure.
Responsibilities
• Design, build, and manage scalable data pipelines and warehousing solutions
• Track and analyze customer behavior across the platform to uncover actionable insights
• Develop analytics dashboards and KPI frameworks for internal teams
• Create schema, models, and data definitions for core business entities
• Own instrumentation across frontend and backend systems
• Support product and growth initiatives through ad hoc reporting and data support
• Drive implementation of best practices in data integrity, quality, and performance
Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related backend data roles
• Strong command of SQL and experience with cloud-based data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)
• Proven experience analyzing ecommerce or marketplace customer behavior
• Comfortable working independently, taking a project from scope to execution
• Demonstrated ability to align data architecture with product and business strategy
• Strong communication skills and ability to distill data into business-facing insights
Preferred Skills
• Experience with tools like dbt, Looker, Airflow, or Segment
• Familiarity with our stack: TypeScript, GraphQL, Postgres
• Experience working in high-growth startup environments
• Background in analytics, behavioral modeling, or customer segmentation
