Role description
We’re Cakesmiths, one of the UK’s leading independent bakeries, selling award-winning wholesale cakes to coffee shops, cafes, farm shops and delis. We’re on a mission to be the most trusted cake partner for coffee shops across the country and our cakes have become the envy of Instagram feeds across the UK.
As a business, we’ve gone through massive growth over the past year, with digital playing a big role in that success. We’re now looking for a sharp, hands-on Digital Marketing & eCommerce Manager to help take our online shop to the next level.
The role
As an eCommerce business, digital marketing is crucial in helping us to spread the cake love, pulling in new customers and keeping them happy.
You’ll be working closely with our Head of Marketing & Online, Commercial Director, the wider Sales and Marketing teams, and customer service to make that happen. You’ll be across everything from CRM and SEO, to PPC, email and our website CMS. It’s a role ideal for an experienced digital marketer who wants to roll up their sleeves, own the online sales channel of a primarily digital business, get stuck in, and eat cake.
Typical things you’ll be doing
• Own the Cakesmiths ecommerce system, managing both front end and back end, user experience, merchandising, product catalogues, pricing and inventory.
• Champion the full customer journey — improving UX, page flow, and site navigation to deliver the best experience for our customers and site visitors
• Manage website updates, and own core digital KPIs including online revenue growth, CRO, AOV and CPA.
• Plan and execute digital campaigns including search, email, automations, SEO, PPC and conversion optimisation through our CRM.
• Identify trends and insights, and optimise paid digital spend and ad performance
• Take the lead on proposing and testing new digital initiatives — from landing page changes to ad channel expansion, telling us what’s working and where we can do better. Manage external dev partners where relevant to make change happen.
• Confidently use Shopify, GA4, Looker Studio, and HubSpot or another CRM to analyse and optimise performance data.
About you
You’re an experienced digital marketer with hands-on skills, commercial awareness, and the confidence to take ownership of our online shop.
You have managed an online shop independently in another business or via an agency, understand how to drive conversions, are numbers driven, and motivated by continuous improvement.
You’re curious, collaborative, and comfortable rolling up your sleeves, solving problems, and improving things as you go.
You’ll thrive here if you can balance creative thinking with analytical rigour, and enjoy working in a tight-knit team with the freedom to shape and implement your own ideas.
Bonus points if you’ve worked in food and drink or B2B before, but what matters most is that you’re sharp, proactive, with a can-do attitude, and ready to make an impact in a fast-growing business.
You’ll get:
• Competitive salary + annual bonus
• 25 days holiday + bank holidays
• Training and development opportunities
• Access to relevant industry events and learning
• A role that will define your CV
• And of course… All the cake you can eat!
Closing date for applications 28/09/2025
