Role description
Job Summary The Director, Amazon eCommerce, is responsible for setting and executing the long-term strategic vision for Liberty Hardware’s Amazon business. This role owns overall channel growth, profitability, and market share expansion, driving alignment across sales, marketing, operations, and product teams. The Director provides senior-level leadership, manages an account manager, and represents Liberty to influence strategy, innovation, and partnership. This role requires deep knowledge of Amazon’s business model and the ability to translate enterprise objectives into channel success, positioning Amazon as a key growth driver for Liberty’s overall eCommerce strategy. Key Responsibilities • Own full P&L accountability, including sales, margin, forecasting, pricing strategy, promotional strategy, and assortment architecture. • Lead Amazon’s annual enterprise-level negotiations, serving as Liberty’s negotiation expert against complex tactics such as item suppression, pricing threats, and other leverage plays. • Provide thought leadership in Amazon’s advanced retail media ecosystem, leveraging Sponsored Ads, DSP, influencers, and creators to drive sustained growth. • Oversee 3P Marketplace strategy, ensuring brand integrity through proactive management of counterfeits, unauthorized sellers, and Brand Registry escalation. • Define and lead the long-term strategic direction for Liberty’s Amazon business, ensuring alignment with company growth objectives. • Serve as Liberty’s senior relationship owner with Amazon, influencing business strategies, category planning, and innovation initiatives. • Manage Liberty’s portfolio of eCommerce pure play accounts—including Amazon, Wayfair, and Build.com—by setting long-term strategic direction, driving profitable sales growth, and aligning enterprise resources to maximize performance and market share. • Provide executive oversight of Amazon Vendor Central and Seller Central platforms, leveraging expertise to optimize operational performance, ensure compliance, and unlock growth opportunities. • Drive cross-functional alignment with Marketing, Product, Operations, and Supply Chain to deliver best-in-class execution and ensure Amazon priorities are met. • Lead annual and quarterly business planning, including investment strategies, category expansion, and growth initiatives. • Establish enterprise-level KPIs and reporting standards to measure performance, identify risks, and inform decision-making. • Anticipate and respond to competitive threats, emerging trends, and shifts in the eCommerce marketplace. • Provide senior leadership to direct reports and cross-functional teams, including recruitment, development, coaching, and performance management. • Represent Liberty in enterprise strategic initiatives to expand eCommerce capabilities across all channels. • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to drive profitability, operational excellence, and market leadership. Key Capabilities • Enterprise-level ownership of full P&L, with proven expertise in driving profitability through pricing, promotions, and assortment architecture. • Deep expertise in Amazon’s advanced retail media ecosystem (Sponsored Ads, DSP, influencers/creators), with the ability to shape long-term media strategies that drive growth and market share. • Mastery of 3P Marketplace management, including strategy development to protect brand integrity, mitigate counterfeit risk, and manage inventory sources. • Expert-level negotiation capabilities, with a track record leading Amazon’s annual negotiations and navigating complex tactics such as item suppression and pricing threats. • Proven ability to lead across eCommerce pure play accounts (Amazon, Wayfair, Build.com), setting strategies that deliver sustainable channel growth and profitability. • Deep expertise in Amazon Vendor Central and Seller Central, with the ability to influence platform strategies, optimize operational efficiencies, and resolve complex issues at scale. • Ability to influence senior internal stakeholders and secure organizational alignment around Amazon strategies. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred. • 10+ years of progressive sales leadership, including significant experience managing large national retail accounts and at least 4 years in eCommerce. • Demonstrated expertise in Amazon account management, retail media, 3P marketplace management, and eCommerce marketplace dynamics. • Proven success managing complex P&L responsibility and delivering sustainable, profitable growth. • Strong track record of executive-level negotiation, long-range planning, and organizational leadership. • Ability to travel up to 30%.
