Role description
A leading consumer products retailer is seeking a skilled and experienced Director of Digital Technology who combines strategic vision with hands-on execution. In this key leadership role, you’ll oversee the development and integration of the ecommerce storefront, mobile apps, and customer and marketing data platforms. You will lead agile product development, drive data-informed decision-making, and ensure seamless integration of technologies into its Salesforce Reference Architecture (SFRA) stack. Managing a lean, high-impact team, you will deliver solutions that support high-growth initiatives while aligning tactical and strategic plans to business goals and overseeing departmental budgets.
Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the technology digital platform strategy in line with business goals and in collaboration with stakeholders across the company.
• Collaborate with internal teams, especially ecommerce and marketing to deliver data-driven insights that inform business decisions and drive growth.
• Lead and manage a team of engineers and product leads dedicated to the ecommerce and marketing tech stack. Build and lead a high-performing team of developers, product owners, QA engineers, and analysts—mentoring them to drive business results with limited resources.
• Technology and product ownership of the US and International ecommerce Sites, Integrations, Mobile App.
• Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors, partners, and service providers to support the growth of the business.
• Develop Agile process within the technology organization to drive deadlines, ecommerce roadmap and prioritize projects based on stakeholders‘ input and needs of the business.
• Mentor and train staff, assisting them to learn and improve their skills, innovate, and share best practices.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and best practices in marketing data management and analytics and recommend new tools and technologies to improve the company's marketing data capabilities.
• Partner with business, vendors, IT, and other stakeholders to understand needs, document requirements, and deliver solutions and perform necessary project management guidelines for timely solutions delivery.
• Manage technical engineering teams consisting of both internal staff and third party / off-shore contractors.
• Provide support for business teams that utilize and depend on the applications. Manage and lead a technical and process-oriented support staff in a complex and global environment.
• Monitor and support various systems and systems integrations and provide support for greater systems availability, performance, and stability
• Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to support a high growth ecommerce business‘ existing and future requirements.
• Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training documentation to support business teams.
• Own and evolve the ecommerce technology roadmap—from long-range planning (LRP) to near-term delivery—aligning architecture and product strategy with business goals.
• Implement cybersecurity standards, best practices, policies and procedures.
• Establish service level agreements with business units.
• Prepare RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports, and other documentation for ecommerce projects and associated efforts.
• Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.
• Manage the engineering and product team to support ongoing sprint cycles and provide support for code release activities.
• Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, decision makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding change management and upcoming maintenance activities.
• Direct and administer a contingent of business analysts and, where necessary, conduct performance reviews and corrective action.
• Mentor and guide the ecommerce technical and product resources across the organization.
• Establish and enforce QA and UAT best practices, ensuring every release meets quality, functionality, and performance standards across all devices and browsers.
• Ad hoc projects.
Required Experience
• 10+ years of experience in ecommerce technology, product management, or digital platform leadership, with at least 5 years in a Director or equivalent.
• Experience with digital marketing channels, including email, social media, search, and display advertising.
• Strong knowledge of Salesforce Commerce Cloud and ecommerce business functionality, mobile applications, email, TXT message marketing platforms, and other marketing solutions.
• Demonstrated technical and leadership experience in all of these areas. Strong team building skills, including managing international resources, leading via influence, and global project delivery.
• Proven track record of leading technology roadmaps, product strategy, and cross-functional delivery in an agile environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead cross functional teams with data driven decisions.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to work across teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations, such as GDPR and CCPA, and experience implementing data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
