Role description
Position Overview: Pistola is in an exciting phase of explosive growth—and we’re looking for a Director of Merchandising to shape the future of our product across denim and ready-to-wear. This is a high-impact leadership role where creativity meets strategy, and instinct meets data. As a key member of the merchandising team, you’ll partner closely with Design, Planning, Production, and Sales to build product strategies that are trend-right, margin-positive, and built to move fast. You’ll drive line planning, seasonal strategy, and assortment execution—helping Pistola deliver on both financial goals and customer expectations. What You’ll Do: • Drive merchandising strategy: Partner with executive leadership to shape seasonal product frameworks and assortment plans across DTC, wholesale, and private label. • Own line planning & execution: Collaborate with Design on assortments that strike the right balance of newness, commercial viability, and margin health. • Manage seasonal process: Oversee calendars, milestones, and deliverables to ensure alignment across teams from concept through final delivery. • Analyze performance: Use sales data, sell-through results, and consumer insights to inform assortment decisions and identify growth opportunities. • Trend & market research: Track competitive landscape, category opportunities, and consumer trends to ensure Pistola stays relevant and ahead of the curve. • Merchandising tools & accuracy: Maintain line sheets, assortment plans, margin trackers, and seasonal recaps with precision. • Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with Planning, Production, and Sales to align on product, pricing, and margin goals while supporting successful wholesale sell-in. • Mentor & develop team members: Provide coaching, feedback, and merchandising best practices for junior team members. Who You Are: • 8+ years of merchandising experience in contemporary fashion, premium denim, or adjacent lifestyle categories. • Strong foundation in line planning, assortment strategy, and product lifecycle management. • Analytical and creative—you know how to balance data-driven decisions with instinct for trend and product opportunity. • Experience working across DTC and wholesale channels. • Excellent communicator, comfortable presenting to leadership and partnering cross-functionally. • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment. • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or related field preferred.
