Role description
The Divisional Merchandise Manager (DMM) of Apparel manages the merchandise direction and strategy of apparel to ensure the achievement of company business goals for both retail stores and Ecommerce business. The DMM of Apparel will develop, execute, and drive inclusive merchandise strategies that delight the customer while meeting or exceeding the financial goals of the business. Job Responsibilities- SET STRATEGIC GOALS • Align strategy for Division, developing and driving overall category strategy to deliver top-down sales targets and maximize revenue and profitability • Drive sales growth and profit attainment across the Apparel and Accessory division • Analyze category performance by conducting weekly one to one with the buyers and planners to identify opportunities for improvement • Set and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the division ASSORTMENT PLANNING • Lead apparel buying team on assortment development, curating a compelling and profitable assortment that meets customer needs and market demands • Ensure a balanced mix of core and fashion items across categories • Develop Key items and prepare comp reports • Ensure SKU count is on plan by tier and cluster • Establish standards for size curves and ensure rollups are to plan • Meet Category plan percent and units by gender and silhouette • Present Assortment to space planning to gain alignment on product placement DEPARTMENT AND CROSS FUNCTIONAL DUTIES (MARKETING, PLANNING & ALLOCATION) • Prepare and present product ideas to executive team (IE Sr. Director of Apparel) • Collaborate with the product • Meet weekly with Director of Planning and Merchandise manager to set seasonal sales and inventory plans • Develop programs for Tables, Wall, Bump out, and fixtures • Determine Marketing/POP sign needs • Submit and follow up on asset requests • Prepare Summary review on Visual presentation for each set date • Handoff Visual for Tables, Walls, Bump outs, and fixtures • Guide team to increase knowledge of market trends and competitive landscape • Work with product development team to create and maximize product strategies • Present assortment information to distribution • Provide clear directions on channel assortment tiers • Coordinate sample turnover for floor sets PRICING AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT • Implement a “never out” strategy for key products, ensuring stores remain competitive in sizes and depth • Develop and maintain an efficient replenishment system to minimize stockouts • Review ATS and make inventory recommendations • Collaborate with planning and allocation teams to optimize inventory levels across stores • Review and address pricing issues and ensure timely worldwide price entry • Ensure order tracking and delivery communication Supervisory Responsibilities- • Lead and develop a team of Merchandising professionals • Coach and train team members to achieve goals Job Qualifications- • Bachelor's Degree preferred • 10+ years of leading apparel buying experience • Strong organizational and leadership skills • Industry knowledge and relationships • Strategic planning and execution abilities • Collaborative approach with cross-functional teams • Ability to predict and maximize trends • 30% travel required The pay range for this role is $170,000-$210,000/yr USD.
