Role description
E-Commerce Manager (Platform & Integrations)
Location: San Francisco β Full Time, In-Person
The Opportunity
We are looking for our first E-Commerce hire β a foundational hire who will architect, manage, and operate the systems that power our global consumer product sales. There is no existing platform or infrastructure in place, so you will create our ecommerce stack. This means making informed recommendations on tools, agencies, architectures, and workflows that connect manufacturing, fulfillment, and customers across multiple brands and markets.
This is both a management and hands-on role. You will work directly with agencies to move from concept to deployment in a matter of months. You will design and implement scalable foundations for subscriptions, international compliance, customer experience, and analytics.
A major part of this role is building out and owning our e-commerce analytics stack: connecting data sources, applying AI tools to automate insights and workflows, and extracting actionable intelligence for leadership and marketing. Agency experience is a big plus, as you will be expected to lead external partners while also diving into the details yourself when needed.
Responsibilities
βοΈ E-commerce platform architecture β Lead the selection and management of vendors for commerce platform development (Shopify, headless frameworks, Stripe, 3PLs). Evaluate options, present recommendations to leadership, and ensure agencies are delivering on time and to standard. Be prepared to parachute in when needed. You are expected to make direct changes, troubleshoot issues, and respond quickly during implementation and ongoing maintenance. Oversee the full system build, including storefront, checkout and payment flows, cross-border tax/compliance handling, subscriptions, CRM integration, and NFC/QR-triggered reorder experiences. Ensure the system is built to scale for multi-brand, multi-market operations.
βοΈ Logistics and inventory integration β Lead the selection and management of inventory syncing tools between the e-commerce platform and 3PL. Implement and maintain integrations to keep stock levels, backorders, and waitlists accurate in real time. Develop dashboards for sell-through tracking, demand forecasting, and shortage alerts, and coordinate closely with Taxaβs Head of Manufacturing.
βοΈ Automation tools and AI β Lead the selection and management of AI tools to handle βdrip maintenanceβ and continuous optimization.
βοΈ Analytics dashboards β Lead the selection and management of Taxaβs analytics platforms. Integrate selected tools to ensure that churn rate, reorder rate, unit sales, and engagement metrics are accurate and accessible. Maintain dashboards and proactively share relevant insights with leadership and other stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
βοΈ Shopify expertise β minimum 2 years hands-on building Shopify stores, including custom themes, Liquid templates, and checkout customizations. Must have shipped at least one full Shopify store from scratch.
βοΈ Integrations experience β proven ability to connect Shopify to at least three of the following: Recharge (subscriptions), Klaviyo (email/SMS), Stripe/Shopify Payments, Shippo/EasyPost, Segment/GA4, or comparable platforms.
βοΈ Agency work experience β must have led or contributed to agency-led projects involving platform builds, integrations, or optimization. Proven ability to evaluate, select, and manage agencies or contractors, holding them accountable for deliverables while stepping in hands-on when responsiveness or quality requires it. Direct experience working at an e-commerce agency strongly preferred.
βοΈ Inventory & 3PL syncs β experience wiring inventory data between Shopify (or equivalent) and a third-party logistics provider via webhooks or APIs, with real-time stock accuracy at the SKU level.
βοΈ Automation and AI tooling β active, hands-on use of AI development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) for code generation and operational automation. Must have implemented at least one AI-powered workflow or tool in production.
βοΈ Analytics implementation β direct experience integrating e-commerce analytics, including event tracking, funnel metrics, churn/reorder calculations, and A/B testing, using tools like GA4, Segment, or similar.
βοΈ In-person availability β able to work full-time on-site in San Francisco.
βοΈ Work authorization β authorized to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Transparent Compensation
βοΈ Base salary β $115,000 annual salary.
βοΈ Equity β meaningful equity package as a core component of total compensation.
βοΈ Benefits β comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
βοΈ Retirement β 401(k) plan with 6% employer match.
