Role description
As Rhoback continues to scale across all channels, we're seeking an experienced E-Commerce Specialist to own and optimize our entire website experience and performance. The ideal candidate is a data-driven digital merchandising professional with deep expertise in conversion rate optimization, website analytics, and e-commerce user experience. You will be responsible for maximizing our website's revenue potential through strategic testing, merchandising, content management, and performance analysis. This role requires someone who can balance creative merchandising instincts with analytical rigor to drive measurable improvements in site performance. You'll serve as the website optimization strategist for the Rhoback brand's digital storefront and are expected to translate user behavior insights into actionable improvements with precision, creativity, and strategic insight. You'll play a foundational role in enhancing Rhoback's digital customer experience and establishing best practices for website performance optimization. This is a full-time position located in-person at Rhoback’s headquarters in Charlottesville, VA. The role will be reporting to Rhoback's Marketing Director and will work closely with our creative, marketing, and merchandising teams. Responsibilities Website Analytics & Performance: • Own comprehensive website performance analysis using Google Analytics, Shopify Analytics, and other web analytics platforms to identify optimization opportunities • Monitor and report on key website KPIs including conversion rates, bounce rates, time on site, page load speeds, and revenue per visitor • Conduct detailed conversion funnel analysis to identify drop-off points and optimization opportunities throughout the customer journey • Create automated reporting dashboards that track website performance trends and alert to significant changes in user behavior • Analyze user behavior patterns, heat maps, and session recordings to understand customer interactions and pain points Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO): • Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests across product pages, collection pages, homepage layouts, checkout flow, and promotional campaigns • Develop testing roadmaps based on data insights, user feedback, and industry best practices to systematically improve conversion rates • Implement multivariate testing strategies for complex page optimizations and user experience improvements • Analyze test results using statistical significance methods and translate findings into actionable recommendations • Collaborate with design and development teams to implement winning test variations and new optimization initiatives Web Merchandising & Content Management: • Curate and optimize product collections, homepage content, promotional banners, and seasonal campaigns to maximize on-site revenue • Create high-converting landing pages for advertising campaigns that highlight core value propositions and showcase campaign imagery in an impactful way • Manage homepage hero content, lifestyle imagery, and promotional messaging to align with marketing campaigns and brand positioning • Upload and optimize product images, ensuring consistent quality, sizing, and brand aesthetic across all product pages • Collaborate with the merchandising team to make seasonal updates, product launches, and promotional campaigns to drive engagement and sales • Maintain content calendar for website updates and ensure timely execution of strategies SEO & Site Optimization: • Implement on-page SEO best practices including meta tags, product descriptions, image alt text, and URL structure optimization • Conduct keyword research and optimize product and collection page content for organic search performance • Monitor site speed, mobile responsiveness, and technical SEO factors that impact search rankings and user experience • Collaborate with content team to ensure SEO-optimized product descriptions and category pages • Track organic search performance and identify opportunities for content and structural improvements Developer Collaboration & Technical Implementation: • Partner with web development team to implement site updates, new features, and optimization initiatives • Provide detailed requirements and specifications for website improvements based on analytics insights and testing results • Coordinate technical implementations of A/B tests, new page layouts, and functionality enhancements • Test and QA website updates before launch to ensure optimal user experience and functionality Strategic Planning & Optimization: • Develop comprehensive website optimization strategies based on customer behavior analysis and competitive research • Create seasonal merchandising plans that align with marketing campaigns, inventory management, and promotional calendars • Identify and prioritize website improvement opportunities based on potential revenue impact and resource requirements • Stay current on e-commerce trends, CRO best practices, and emerging technologies that could enhance website performance • Present optimization results and strategic recommendations to marketing leadership and cross-functional teams Qualifications: • Experience: 3-5 years of e-commerce experience with focus on website optimization, preferably with Shopify Plus platforms and DTC brands • Analytics Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Google Analytics, Shopify Analytics, and website performance measurement tools • CRO Specialization: Proven experience designing and executing A/B tests using platforms like Optimizely, VWO, Convert, or Intelligems • E-commerce Platform Knowledge: Deep understanding of Shopify Plus capabilities, limitations, and optimization opportunities • Data Analysis Skills: Strong analytical abilities with advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills for data manipulation and reporting • SEO Foundation: Working knowledge of on-page SEO best practices, keyword research, and technical SEO factors • Content Management: Experience with digital asset management, product catalog optimization, and content coordination • Project Management: Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple testing initiatives and coordinate cross-functional projects • UX/UI Understanding: Solid grasp of user experience principles, customer psychology, and conversion optimization methodologies • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to present data insights to non-technical stakeholders • Technical Aptitude: Comfortable working with web-based tools, basic understanding of website functionality (HTML/CSS knowledge helpful but not required) • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to testing setup, data analysis, and content management with focus on accuracy • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment with changing priorities and evolving optimization strategies • Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Analytics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience • Must be a team player with a no-task-too-small attitude Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with heat mapping and user behavior tools (Hotjar, Crazy Egg, FullStory) • Knowledge of statistical analysis and significance testing for A/B test evaluation • Previous experience at growing DTC apparel or lifestyle brands • Familiarity with conversion tracking setup and marketing attribution • Experience with email capture optimization and customer retention initiatives • Understanding of mobile commerce optimization and responsive design principles
