As the financial accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting the financial operations of NAMED COLLECTIVE, working closely with the Financial Controller to deliver accurate financial reporting, compliance, and analysis.

• DETAIL OBSESSED: You have a strong attention to accuracy and consistency, ensuring all transactions, reconciliations, and financial records are correct and compliant with regulations.
• PROACTIVE PROBLEM-SOLVER: You can interpret financial data, identify discrepancies or variances, and collaborate across teams (such as operations and community experience) to resolve issues effectively and improve financial processes.
• ACCOUNTING PRO: Youll bring solid accounting knowledge (including VAT, management accounts, and audits) and can adapt to handling diverse tasks such as ecommerce transactions, inventory accounting, and inter-company reconciliations.
THE ROLE
• Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payment and collections
• Ensure that all transactions (sales, expenses, purchases) are correctly recorded in the accounting system
• Help manage and track ecommerce sales transactions, returns, and refunds in collaboration with the operations team
• Prepare VAT returns, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
• Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including posting journal entries, recording all financial transactions, and maintaining accurate records in the general ledger
• Prepare weekly payment run, reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and payment gateway accounts (e.g., PayPal, Stripe) regularly
• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
• Support the preparation of year-end financial statements and work closely with auditors
• Reconcile intercompany transactions and resolve discrepancies
• Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and in accordance with company policies
• Support with stock valuation and inventory accounting in line with the business requirements
A GOOD FIT LOOKS LIKE
• Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a strong desire to complete your qualification
• Previous experience in a finance role, ideally within an ecommerce or retail business
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Proficient in using accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and Excel or Google Sheets
• Knowledge of VAT and tax regulations, specifically in the context of ecommerce
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise across departments and present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying areas for improvement
• Experience in managing e-commerce sales data, including integration with platforms such as Shopify or similar
• Knowledge of multi-currency transactions and international tax regulations
