Finance Director Remote - ability to get to office 1 day/week We’re currently recruiting for a Finance Director for an innovative and high growth food business. This senior role will oversee day-to-day financial operations while providing strategic insights and guidance to drive sustainable growth and profitability. Partnering closely with the MD and senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping financial performance, guiding critical business decisions, and optimising efficiency across the organisation. Key Responsibilities Commercial Finance & Business Partnering • Partner with the senior leadership team to gain deep insight into performance across key channels. • Advise on pricing strategies and promotional planning. • Deliver actionable analysis on channel performance to boost revenue, profitability, and operational efficiency. • Assess the financial viability of new business opportunities. Budgeting & Forecasting • Lead the planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, ensuring financial implications of channel activities are fully understood. • Manage and update the cash flow forecast. • Build and maintain robust financial models. Month-End & Reporting • Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, highlighting variances to budget/forecast and providing insightful commentary. • Review monthly accruals, prepayments, fixed asset register entries, and related accounting adjustments. • Ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations. Financial Operations • Manage the finance function on a daily basis. • Oversee accounts receivable/payable and expense management. • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns. • Support payroll preparation and liaise with the payroll bureau. • Act as the main point of contact for annual audits. • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and commercial support as required. People, Processes & Systems • Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance Manager. • Continuously strengthen financial controls, frameworks, and policies. • Take ownership of cloud accounting and ERP platforms. Requirements • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) with at least 5 years’ PQE. • Proven experience in a product or stock-based business (FMCG preferred). • Strong background in eCommerce (essential). • Track record of effective business partnering with non-finance teams. • Skilled at interpreting and presenting complex financial data clearly and concisely. • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills. • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities. • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines. • Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets and financial software/systems. • Experience managing and developing a finance team.
