Role description
Do you love solving problems across the full stack? Enjoy building fast, clean Shopify experiences — with real autonomy and space to grow? Looking for a dev role with plenty of variety that doesn’t feel like agency churn? We’re working with a fast-growing ecommerce consultancy based in Birmingham who are looking for a new Full Stack Developer to join their in-house team. You’ll be joining a development team of five that sits inside a tight-knit, 20-person business — working on a mix of internal tools and bespoke Shopify solutions for exciting fashion and lifestyle brands. This is not theme tweaking — they’re a team that build things properly from scratch. Clean, custom front ends paired with smart app logic and well-structured architecture behind the scenes. This role leans back-end, but you’ll be expected to work confidently across the stack — building and maintaining custom Shopify themes, apps and features. You’ll scope solutions with your team, work with APIs and build reusable functionality for ongoing clients and new project launches. No two builds are the same — so this isn’t a place where you’ll stagnate. You’ll also work on the business’s own internal platform, and have space to get involved in app development (including mobile) if that’s where your interest lies. From a skill perspective, think: • Strong experience across HTML, CSS, and JavaScript • Experience with PHP and modern JS runtimes (Node, Bun, Deno etc.) • Confident working with Shopify’s Liquid templating language • Experience with modern PHP frameworks like Laravel • Solid database knowledge (MySQL, MariaDB etc.) • GraphQL and REST API integration experience • Able to write clean database queries (ORM or raw SQL) • A collaborative, curious mindset — and willingness to pick up new tools and approaches This is a genuinely supportive team who like spending time together. They operate on trust, encourage ownership and put a lot into personal growth — whether you’re keen on technical progression, platform ownership or pushing into new technologies. • Hybrid model: in-office Mondays and Fridays (Friday is a half day if your work’s done) • Salary: £35k–£45k with flexibility for the right person • Clear internal progression paths and bonus scheme • Personal perks: increasing style voucher, flexi-time, sabbatical at 5 years • Regular team socials, no weekend work and no ridiculous hours Sound like your kind of setup? You know where we are.... sam@dextertalent.com
