Role description
Head of Merchandising & Supply Chain – Jewelry
Mission: Convert trend insight into profitable assortments, compress cost and lead-time across our India factories, and build repeatable processes.
Core Responsibilities
• Market & Gap Analysis – Run monthly deep-dives on U.S. jewelry segments and global design movements; pinpoint whitespace by price tier, metal mix, and occasion.
• Competitive Benchmarking – Track hero styles, carat weights, setting techniques, and brand stories at peers such as Mejuri, Pandora, David Yurman, Brilliant Earth; flag SKUs where the brand can win on value, speed, or narrative.
• Assortment Architecture – Build seasonal line plans that balance statement pieces, volume basics, and capsule drops; own SKU rationalization, open-to-buy ceilings, and aging thresholds to curb duplication and dead stock.
• Design Brief & CAD Oversight – Translate insights into crisp style briefs (mood boards, spec ranges, stone shapes) and co-lead CAD/BOM reviews to ensure commercial viability and distinct brand handwriting.
• Multi-Factory Allocation & Sourcing – Distribute styles across our India facility and other Potential alternative factories (Thailand, Vietnam, Turkey, etc.); negotiate costs, set margin guardrails, and match technical strengths to design complexity.
• Critical-Path & Speed-to-Market – Own concept-to-sample calendars; coordinate design, sourcing, and QC checkpoints, rerouting work when bottlenecks arise to protect launch dates.
• Quality & Compliance – Enforce RJC, recycled-metal, and LGD-traceability standards; codify QC tolerances so first production mirrors approved samples at every site.
• Cost & Inventory Stewardship – Partner with Finance on landed-cost models, inventory roll-ups, and turn targets; trigger markdown, melt, or repurpose decisions to preserve margin and cash.
• Process & System Governance – Document end-to-end merchandising workflows in PLM/ERP; build dashboards for real-time visibility and decision-making.
• Team Development – Mentor an assistant merchandiser to maintain data hygiene, sample libraries, and reporting once SOPs are embedded.
Must-Have Profile
• 7-10 years as buyer, merchandiser, or supply-chain manager at a US Fine Jewelry retailer or vertically integrated Jewelry brand
• Hands-on multi-factory sourcing in Asia/India
• Fluent in margin math, BOM costing, PLM systems
• Builder mindset enjoys installing structure where none exists
Salary $175,000 + Bonus
