Role description
SmartSign is seeking a high-performing Manager of Commercial Strategy & Insights to support the business in delivering critical growth and revenue initiatives across our portfolio of e-commerce businesses and SaaS platforms. This is a cross-functional role that blends commercial strategy, insights and analytics, and execution. You’ll be central to identifying and quantifying growth opportunities, building scalable frameworks, supporting strategic initiatives, and improving decision-making across the business. The ideal candidate is a commercially minded problem-solver—ideally with a background in consulting or as a generalist—who brings strong analytical skills, sharp business acumen, and experience partnering with senior leaders. You thrive in fast-paced, digital-first environments and are energized by leading diverse workstreams and building from the ground up. Key Responsibilities 1. Commercial Strategy Development • Assess new markets, customer segments, business models, and product extensions to identify and size high-potential opportunities • Build structured frameworks and business cases to evaluate new sales channels and B2B partnerships • Prioritize opportunities based on strategic fit and financial impact • Translate insights into strategic recommendations for executive and Board-level audiences 1. Execution of New Business Strategies & Ideas • Drive and own the launch of new initiatives, business models, and commercial experiments from idea to execution • Manage workstreams across scoping, analysis, stakeholder coordination, implementation, and early-stage iteration • Evaluate early performance and contribute to go/no-go scaling decisions 1. Organizational Capability Building • Help elevate the strategic and analytical capabilities of the organization to better compete in e-commerce and digital operations – including topics like pricing, go-to-market, channel strategy, etc. • Introduce scalable frameworks, tools, and decision-making processes across the business • Partner with cross-functional teams to embed strategy and insights into daily operations 1. Commercial Analytics, Dashboarding & Insights • Develop and manage BI dashboards that deliver real-time visibility into commercial performance for executives and business owners • Maintain consistency and integrity across all core commercial metrics • Conduct market and competitive research to gather insights across signs, labels, tags, and adjacent categories • Translate data and trends into actionable recommendations that shape company priorities Qualifications • 3–5 years of experience in management consulting, marketing and sales strategy, or business operations; former consulting experience is plus • Strong analytical skills and fluency with financial modeling and business case development • Proficient in advanced data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker) • Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally and with executive stakeholders • Strategic generalist comfortable managing multiple diverse workstreams • Industry experience in e-commerce, retail is strongly preferred.
