Role description
Klamath Grown is a non-profit food hub based in Klamath Falls, Oregon. We connect local ranchers, farmers, and food makers with eaters, educators, and community stakeholders throughout the Klamath Basin. Together, weβre creating a functional and resilient local food system.
The Market Manager operates the year-round weekly Klamath Grown Online Market, a space to sell and promote local food and agricultural products. The Manager hosts on-site Market operations at the Herald & News building (2701 Foothills Blvd. Klamath Falls) on Wednesdays from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm. Other tasks are done throughout the week, including coordinating with vendors and customers or updating the online store. This is a public-facing role; sales, organization, and customer-service skills are extremely important. As the manager of an online market, candidates should be extremely comfortable with computers and spreadsheets, be willing to learn, and take on the responsibility of primary manager of our e-commerce platform.
Roles & Responsibilities
Market Operations (90%)
Operate and maintain Klamath Grownβs e-commerce (Local Line or Local Food Marketplace) online store.
Send vendor picklists on Monday morning.
Update online shop inventory on Thursday.
Maintain consistent communication with vendors, including technical assistance and product listing support.
Provide customer service to retail and wholesale customers including I.T. support, general communications, and response to complaints or issues.
Produce a quarterly written report on Market performance for the Klamath Grown Board of Directors.
Coordinate inventory purchasing, including maintaining shelf-stable product inventory and exploring new vendor connections.
Collaborate with other Klamath Grown staff on regional procurement, including managing delivery and pickup schedules.
Communicate Monthly with regional partners (other Food Hubs or food businesses) to facilitate wholesale ordering into and out of the Klamath Basin.
Provide exceptional product quality control:
Verify vendors are meeting standards outlined in terms of service.
Assure products are stored properly at the pickup site. β Manage rejected products and products not picked up by customers.
Maintain a clean and organized physical Market space for pickups and in-person shopping.
Provide supervision and coordination support for Market volunteers and packers on Wednesdays from 12-4pm.
Manage order fulfillment during weekly in-person open Market hours, Wednesdays from 4-7pm, and closing up at the end.
Record and arrange for donation of leftover perishable goods following the weekly Market.
Administrative Tasks (5%)
Maintain accurate sales records, producing monthly vendor payout reports in collaboration with the Bookkeeper.
Maintain records of alternative currencies (ex. SNAP, Double Up Food Bucks, Farm Direct Dollars) on a weekly and monthly basis.
Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program (LFPA) grant management, in collaboration with the Executive Director.
Marketing & Community Engagement (5%)
Event planning with the Klamath Grown team.
Communicate weekly with the Communications Manager about seasonal and sale products.
Represent Klamath Grown in the community and with partner organizations, including occasional tabling or off-site sales events.
Support other local food promotion campaign projects, including Klamath Grownβs online Local Food Directory and annual printed Local Food Directory.
Compensation
This position pays $24 per hour. Hours per week may be 20 (0.5 FTE, $24,960 annually) to 40 (1.0 FTE, $49,920 annually), open to candidate negotiation.
Klamath Grown also provides:
Access to professional development funds of up to $500 per year, to be used for training, conferences, and associated travel.
Automatic 3% annual raises for satisfactory performance without need to negotiate.
10 paid holidays (80 hours or proportionate to FTE)
80 hours (proportionate to FTE) of flexible Paid Time Off per year by accrual basis.
5 personal days (40 hours or proportionate to FTE) renewed annually,
Up to 5.6% of salary paid toward healthcare premium.
