Herff Jones is in the middle of an exciting companywide transformation, and we’re looking for a director of eCommerce to help build the digital foundation for our future. In this role, you’ll lead the strategy and execution of our eCommerce vision across all product lines—graduation, jewelry, regalia, and more—while shaping how students, parents, alumni, and schools experience our brand online.
This is a unique opportunity to design and grow a modern digital commerce platform in a complex B2B and B2C environment. You’ll balance consumer-facing experiences with institutional needs, while also enabling and empowering our independent sales representatives and channel partners.
We’re looking for a strategic, data-driven leader who can see the big picture and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves. You’ll collaborate across sales, marketing, technology, and operations to drive growth, streamline digital transactions, and bring innovative ideas to market. Most importantly, you’ll play a pivotal role in accelerating our digital transformation and creating new ways to engage and serve our customers.

• Develop and execute a companywide eCommerce strategy that aligns with Herff Jones’ overall business objectives and growth goals.
• Elevate the customer experience by creating a seamless, user-friendly, and mobile-optimized online journey for students, parents, alumni, and schools.
• Drive digital revenue growth by expanding online sales channels, improving conversion rates, and introducing new digital offerings.
• Lead eCommerce innovation by staying ahead of consumer trends, digital marketing strategies, and emerging technologies in retail and education markets.
• Integrate eCommerce with our sales teams and ISP model, ensuring digital tools complement and enhance the efforts of independent sales partners.
• Strengthen cross-functional alignment with channel, marketing, product, operations, and IT to ensure smooth execution of eCommerce initiatives.
• Leverage analytics and data-driven insights to optimize site performance, improve customer engagement, and inform strategic decisions.
• Collaborate with marketing teams to expand & enhance digital marketing and merchandising capabilities, including SEO, paid media, personalization, and product presentation, to maximize reach and relevance.
• Enhance operational excellence by streamlining order management, fulfillment, and customer service processes within the eCommerce channel.
• Build and lead a culture of continuous improvement by testing, measuring, and iterating on digital initiatives to accelerate growth.
Core Activities
• Define and own the companywide eCommerce roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall business priorities.
• Identify growth opportunities across products & services (graduation, jewelry, regalia, and accessories) and translate them into actionable digital initiatives.
• Oversee the design and continuous improvement of the online customer journey, with a focus on mobile-first experiences.
• Implement personalization, bundling, and upsell strategies to increase engagement and basket size.
• Manage online sales performance by monitoring conversion rates, average order value, and other key KPIs.
• Drive adoption of new digital products, services, and payment solutions that expand customer choice and convenience.
• Partner with sales representatives to ensure eCommerce complements in-person selling and enhances the ISP to customer relationship.
• Collaborate with Marketing on campaigns, SEO, paid media, and promotions to increase site traffic and engagement.
• Work with IT, Product, and Operations to ensure seamless integration of systems, fulfillment processes, and customer support.
• Establish reporting and analytics dashboards to track digital performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Conduct A/B testing, analyze site traffic, and leverage customer feedback to guide optimizations.
Success Indicators
• Demonstrated success in leading eCommerce strategy and execution within a mid-to-large sized organization.
• Track record of implementing long-term, scalable digital commerce strategies that drove measurable revenue growth.
• Strong ability to build and sustain relationships across functions (sales, marketing, IT, operations, product) and geographies using in-person and digital mediums.
• Ability to operate and succeed in fast-changing, undefined, or rapidly scaling environments.
• Experience in both B2B and B2C environments, with familiarity in supporting a 1099 sales model considered a strong plus
Education / Certifications Required
• Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Marketing, eCommerce, Digital Marketing, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Master’s degree (MBA or related) preferred but not required, with emphasis on strategy, digital commerce, or marketing.
• Minimum of ten years of experience in B2B eCommerce or digital sales enablement, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
