The Role FreshDirect is seeking a highly motivated Merchandising Intern (FRESH) to join our team this summer. This paid internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in merchandising strategy, product management, and cross-functional collaboration within a fast-paced, customer-focused organization. You’ll work closely with our Merchandising leaders and partner teams to support key projects, learn the foundations of category management, and contribute to initiatives that shape the customer shopping experience. What You’ll Do As a Merchandising Intern, you will: • Support the Merchandising team in day-to-day operations, including product setup, category reviews, and promotional planning. • Learn FreshDirect’s merchandising systems and tools to help track product performance and maintain accurate product information. • Assist with competitive and trend analysis to identify opportunities for assortment growth. • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations) to keep projects on task and ensure timely follow-up. • Participate in team meetings, gaining exposure to decision-making processes and strategy in action. • Contribute to special projects that enhance the customer experience and strengthen vendor partnerships. Learning Opportunities Technical & Industry Skills • Gain hands-on experience with merchandising systems, product setup, and category management tools. • Learn the fundamentals of assortment planning, pricing strategy, and promotional execution. • Develop analytical skills through product performance tracking and competitive benchmarking. • Understand how merchandising decisions impact supply chain, marketing, and overall business operations. Industry Exposure • Observe how food retail and e-commerce merchandising strategies are built and executed. • Participate in cross-functional projects with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations teams. • Gain insight into vendor relationships, supplier communications, and product lifecycle management. • Learn how consumer trends and market insights influence product selection and promotions. What You’ll Bring • Strong interest in merchandising, food retail, and the grocery industry. • Ability to work closely with vendors and major distributors to gather, organize, and maintain product data. • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining product information accuracy across the storefront and site. • Ability to support and recap Shopper Marketing campaigns for vendor partners. • Collaborative mindset and willingness to engage with Merchandising Teams on periodic Category and Brand reviews. • Excellent organizational, communication, and follow-up skills to keep projects on track. • Must be based in NYC and available to work in-office five days per week. What We Offer • The expected compensation for this role is $23.00 –$ 25.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
