Role description
Who We Are
Grass Roots Farmersβ Cooperative is a farmer-owned, eCommerce company on a mission to build a better food system from the ground up. We partner with small-scale regenerative farms to bring ethically raised, nutrient-dense meat directly to customers nationwide.
We believe in supporting small farmers and bringing intention to every step of the process, from pasture to plate. Our work is rooted in transparency, animal welfare, and environmental stewardship, and we believe in the power of food to connect people with the land and the communities who steward it.
Role Summary
We are looking for someone who is passionate about connecting customers with high-quality, responsibly raised food. This role is all about making sure our product mix matches what people want, bringing exciting new products to market, and upholding our uncompromising standards.
Youβll work hands-on with our products, spotting opportunities, solving challenges, and keeping things moving. That includes finding creative uses for excess or underutilized inventory, developing products that maximize whole-animal utilization, and ensuring every cut reflects our brand promise to support farmers by purchasing the whole animal.
Beyond merchandising, youβll play a key role in growing sales across both DTC and wholesale channels, managing key B2B accounts, and creating new opportunities to put our products into more hands. At the end of the day, your work will keep our customers excited, our products top-notch, and our business growing sustainably.
Key Responsibilities
Merchandising & Product Strategy
β’ Live and breathe our products by knowing them inside and out, demand the highest quality, and ensure every cut reflects our standards.
β’ Keep our product lineup fresh, in demand, and aligned with our mission of pasture-raised, regenerative meat.
β’ Own the product roadmap from concept to testing, production, and launch.
β’ Create new cuts, bundles, and packaging that keep customers excited and true to our brand values.
β’ Ensure all new products meet budget and margin goals.
β’ Collaborate across teams to ensure smooth launches and strong long-term product performance.
Sales & Revenue Growth
β’ Grow and maintain strong B2B relationships that fit our brand and deliver healthy margins.
β’ Negotiate pricing and terms that balance business sustainability with growth.
β’ Find creative solutions for underutilized or excess inventory - whether thatβs reimagining it into new products or finding new markets.
β’ Continue to focus on keeping inventory stable while building long-term strategies to keep products moving at healthy margins.
Partner & Vendor Management
β’ Lead as the primary point of contact for processing partners, building strong relationships and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
β’ Cultivate trusted partnerships with co-packers and suppliers who meet and uphold our quality standards.
β’ Collaborate closely with Operations to quickly resolve challenges and maintain a dependable vendor network.
Desired Attributes
β’ Deep belief in our mission and vision for a better food system
β’ Hands-on, collaborative, and resourceful in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
β’ Strong judgment with the ability to prioritize amid competing initiatives
β’ Curious, creative, and comfortable with testing, learning, and iteration
β’ Team-first mindset with confidence in both giving and receiving feedback
β’ Skilled at cross-functional collaboration and building strong relationships across teams
β’ High emotional intelligence and clear, thoughtful communication
Location & Travel
β’ Remote-first role with monthly travel to Central Arkansas during the first year
β’ Regular travel required to farms and processors
β’ Vehicle required; mileage reimbursed for all work-related travel
Compensation & Benefits
β’ Competitive salary based on experience
β’ Paid time off (PTO)
β’ 100% employer-covered health insurance for employees
β’ 25% of medical premium covered for spouse/children
