Role description
Senior Product/UX Designer (Contract)
Location: London | Duration: 3 months
About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior/Lead Product & UX Designer to join our team on a 3-month contract, driving the design of subscription-based products for the UK market.
You’ll lead discovery and design efforts to differentiate free and premium experiences, helping users clearly understand the value of upgrading while maintaining clarity, trust, and simplicity. Your work will shape the freemium experience strategy, defining user-centered patterns and implementation rules that balance user needs with business goals.
This role involves close collaboration with product, e-commerce, legal, and engineering teams to deliver commercially impactful, user-first solutions.
What You’ll Do
• Lead discovery and user research to identify and validate monetisation opportunities within a freemium model.
• Design end-to-end experiences (user journeys, wireframes, prototypes) that communicate premium value across web and app.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between design solutions and business objectives.
• Facilitate workshops and co-creation sessions to uncover insights and explore enhancements.
• Deliver high-fidelity designs in Figma, from initial concepts to polished UI.
• Champion accessibility and usability, ensuring compliance with regulations and user needs.
What We’re Looking For
• Proven experience designing digital products, ideally within e-commerce or subscription-based SaaS (feature gating experience a plus).
• Strong UX and UI design skills, capable of taking ideas from discovery through delivery.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and skilled at framing problems and exploring multiple solutions.
• Excellent collaboration and communication abilities, including experience with senior stakeholders.
• Proficient in Figma and familiar with prototyping and whiteboarding tools.
• Solid understanding of freemium models, with a track record of designing for conversion and retention.
• Hands-on experience conducting user research.
• A commercial mindset—balancing user needs with business outcomes.
• Familiarity with experimentation, analytics, and design impact measurement
