About The Team And The Role
Data & insight is at the heart of the Ocado retail grocery team – from advising the buying team on promotions to run and products to range, to understanding how our customers buy their weekly shopping though to building models for new loyalty schemes and personalised marketing campaigns – data and insight are critical to everything we do. We want our analysts to become experts in their areas as well as have the skills needed to produce great insight. We therefore run regular training sessions on the key tools needed – choosing visualisations, presentation skills, SQL, VBA and more.
The Reporting Analyst role is responsible for supporting teams across Ocado Retail to make all value add decisions data driven.
Their key responsibilities are to provide and maintain reports for the wider team, including Buying, Marketing, E Commerce, and others. Analytical and communication skills are required for the scoping phase, to ensure the report is asking and answering the right questions. Design and technical skills are required to build the report itself.
Example projects
• Creation of a tool to allow wider team to self-serve a range of performance measures
• Setting up a Tableau dashboard covering all of a team’s KPIs for use in weekly meetings
What You’ll Do
• Gather and organise a variety of data to enable analysis and understanding of the impact for our stakeholders.
• Development of self-service tools to support wider team where opportunities are identified, in a variety of formats
• Working with stakeholders to develop key business reports to increase the level of data-based decision making within the company.
• Manage portfolio of reports, ensuring reports are updated and any issues / errors are resolved promptly
• Working with the Data team to feed back on new data requirements
Who You Are
Essential:
• Strong experience as an analyst
• Experience in telling stories with data
• Proven experience of data mining using SQL
• Ability to drive projects forward and deliver to plan
• The ability to communicate and influence at all levels
• Experience with data visualisation software such as Tableau
• Numerate or Technical Degree (2:1 and above)
• Mathematics A Level (or equivalent) Grade A or above
Preferred:
• Experience in a retail, e-commerce or FMCG consumer-facing business
• Familiarity with Google’s wider data ecosystem (e.g. Google Cloud Storage, AutoML)
• VBA
