Role description
FLOOR TEAM NYC - Full-Time Wine Retail Associate
About Us
Verve is a leading wine retailer for quality-seeking and curious drinkers. We dig wine made by small and limited production winemakers and skilled craftsmen whose connection to the land is just as important as what goes into the bottle. We're committed to fostering a community of fun, curious drinkers like us, and making sure wine is never intimidating or exclusionary. Over 50K (and growing) wine drinkers trust us for everyday bottles, collection-worthy gems, inspiration for hanging out with friends, and everything in between. Our digital platform offers nationwide shipping and fast and convenient delivery from our brick and mortar locations in Tribeca, NYC, Pac Heights, SF (named Best Designed Wine Shop in the US) and Lincoln Park, Chicago.
The Role
Verve Wine is looking for an experienced wine professional with a passion for great guest experiences. You will be working with our in-store sales and management team to assist in maintaining operations of a busy retail environment: fulfilling online orders, receiving deliveries, stocking shelves, packing large orders, and selling wine to customers. This is a great way to join the team at one of New York City's premier retail wine businesses.
Responsibilities
β’ Participate in the regular activities of working in a busy wine shop: moving cases, stocking and restocking shelves, barcoding bottles, fulfilling online orders, assisting every guest who walks through the door or calls on the phone, maintaining a beautiful, clean, and well-organized space.
β’ Maintain the organization of our on-site cellar.
β’ When needed, travel to our Brooklyn Warehouse and assist in receiving and packing large orders and Wine Club fulfillment.
β’ Pour wine and educate guests at our weekly Wine Wednesday series and other monthly events.
β’ Make sure that every guest is made to feel welcome and given the time and attention needed to have a great experience.
Requirements
β’ 1-3 years of work in a customer service environment (retail, restaurant, or sales).
β’ Foundational wine knowledge is strongly preferred. Formal education (WSET, CMS, etc) is a plus, but not required.
β’ E-commerce and retail experience preferred.
β’ Customer obsessed, creative, and curious.
β’ Demonstrated sales and white-glove customer service experience.
β’ Willingness to drive our van to and from our warehouse in Brooklyn is a plus.
β’ Must be able to lift 50lbs.
Hit us up if youβreβ¦
β’ Into drinking and talking about good wine
β’ Love selling the great wines of the world.
β’ Empathetic, have a hospitality-oriented customer service orientation
β’ Passionate about brands and e-commerce
β’ Innovative, collaborative, but able to drive home priorities independently
