We are seeking a Salesforce Architect with deep expertise in Commerce Cloud (SFCC) to lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing eCommerce solutions. The ideal candidate will provide architectural leadership, define integration strategies, and ensure best practices across the Salesforce ecosystem and connected platforms. Role: Salesforce Architect - Commerce Cloud Location: Portland, OR (Hybrid - 3 days a week) Duration: 6 months+ Contract - Open to W2 or C2C Pay Rate: $70/hr (Negotiable depending on experience and engagement type) Responsibilities: • Define the end-to-end architecture for Salesforce Commerce Cloud implementations, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with business goals. • Lead solution design workshops with stakeholders to translate business requirements into architectural blueprints. • Provide technical leadership and governance across multiple SFRA storefronts and multi-site/multi-locale environments. • Design and oversee integration patterns between SFCC and external systems (OMS, ERP, CRM, Marketing, Payment Gateways, Tax, Shipping, DAM, CMS). • Establish and enforce coding standards, security guidelines, and architectural best practices for SFCC projects. • Guide teams on OCAPI/SCAPI API strategies, custom cartridge design, and extensibility models. • Define and manage performance optimization strategies (caching, CDN, SEO, Core Web Vitals). • Evaluate and architect solutions for headless commerce, PWA, and microservices-based integrations. • Drive adoption of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing frameworks for SFCC. • Collaborate with Salesforce Architects across Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and OMS for end-to-end solution consistency. • Stay updated with Salesforce product roadmaps, new Commerce Cloud features, and emerging eCommerce technologies. • Provide mentorship to developers, conduct code/design reviews, and ensure alignment with architecture principles. Requirements: • 14+ years of total experience with at least 4+ years as an SFCC (Digital, B2C) Architect. • Proven experience leading large-scale SFRA implementations and multi-cloud Salesforce programs. • Strong knowledge of OCAPI, SCAPI, cartridges, ISML templates, and Business Manager configurations. • Expertise in integration design patterns (REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, message queues, event-driven systems). • Deep understanding of eCommerce architecture, order lifecycle management, and personalization strategies. • Experience architecting headless commerce and integrations with PWA/React/Next.js or headless CMS. • Familiarity with Salesforce OMS, Service Cloud, and Marketing Cloud integrations. • Knowledge of security, compliance (PCI), and identity management in eCommerce platforms. • Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automated deployments. • Salesforce B2C Commerce Architect certification highly preferred (or B2C Solution Architect). • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
