Role description
SEO Lead Location: Remote-first Salary: Competitive, depending on experience The Company A high-growth AI scale-up shaping the future of AI infrastructure and consumer engagement. With 30M+ users in under two years and ambitious plans to scale globally, the business is building trusted, enterprise-ready AI systems alongside consumer-facing products used daily by millions. Backed by proven leadership and world-first innovation, this is an elite, fully remote team where speed, ownership and creativity are core values. The Role This is a foundational hire — the first in-house SEO Lead. You’ll take full ownership of SEO strategy, execution, and performance, reporting directly to the CMO. With high autonomy, you’ll be responsible for building SEO capabilities from scratch, managing external agency relationships, and making SEO a central driver of growth. This is a hands-on, technically focused role for someone excited by the challenge of scaling SEO in a fast-moving environment. Key Responsibilities • Own and build the SEO function end-to-end, creating a strategy aligned to company growth goals. • Lead technical SEO initiatives, including site migrations, crawl efficiency, indexation, and site speed optimisation. • Diagnose and resolve complex technical SEO issues across multiple platforms and products. • Develop scalable processes for ongoing audits, reporting, and technical improvements. • Partner with engineering, product, and marketing to ensure SEO is embedded in all digital development. • Manage and collaborate with external SEO agencies and vendors, setting direction and ensuring delivery. • Establish performance tracking, reporting frameworks, and actionable KPIs. • Identify opportunities for organic growth and prioritise projects that maximise ROI. • Lay the groundwork for future team growth, with potential to step into people leadership. Skills & Experience Essential: • Strong technical SEO expertise — proven track record of resolving site architecture, crawl, and indexing challenges. • Experience handling migrations and troubleshooting complex technical SEO issues. • Evidence of SEO as a growth driver, not just a support channel. • Ability to build SEO processes, systems, and best practices from scratch. • Comfortable owning SEO independently in a high-growth, fast-moving company. • Strong stakeholder management and ability to communicate technical insights clearly. Desirable: • Experience working with or managing external SEO agencies. • Familiarity with scaling SEO in consumer-facing products or apps. • Exposure to analytics tools such as Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and Google Analytics. • Interest in developing leadership skills and mentoring others as the SEO function expands. Interview Process 1st Stage: Introductory with the CMO (career background, motivation, and role alignment). 2nd Stage: Technical case study — audit or migration scenario with recommendations. Final Stage: Leadership interview with senior team (focus on growth impact, stakeholder approach, and cultural fit).
