The Role
We are supporting our client in their search for an experienced Senior Business Development Manager to join their commercial team. The role is focused on driving new business opportunities across the UK and European markets, covering businesses from start-up through to large enterprises.
This is a client-facing, consultative sales role where you’ll be building relationships, identifying opportunities, and delivering bespoke payment and commerce solutions that address customer challenges. You will play a critical role in shaping the company’s commercial growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
• Proactively source and engage new merchants, partners, and introducers.
• Understand client needs and challenges, positioning solutions that deliver measurable value.
• Negotiate commercial and contractual terms with support from internal teams.
• Oversee onboarding for new clients before transitioning accounts to the relationship management team.
• Maintain introducer relationships and help expand their portfolios.
• Update the CRM system with accurate reporting, forecasting, and pipeline management.
• Represent the business at industry events and in face-to-face client meetings.
• Travel across the UK and Europe where necessary to strengthen partnerships and close deals.
What We’re Looking For
• At least 5 years’ proven business development experience within payments or fintech.
• Demonstrable track record of securing new business in the £5m–£50m annual card turnover segment.
• Experience in eCommerce, gateway, or technical payment solutions.
• Strong consultative selling skills, with the ability to craft tailored solutions.
• Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship management abilities.
• Confidence working with and selling to C-level executives.
• Background in sectors such as retail, travel, digital commerce, or financial services is a strong plus.
