SENIOR DIGITAL MARKETING MANAGER
Title: Senior Digital Marketing Manager
Hours: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Hybrid - Northern Quarter, Manchester
Salary: £45,000 - £49,000
We are looking for a motivated, experienced, detail-oriented senior digital marketing manager to join our team. This role is perfect for someone looking to take on a senior role in a digital marketing agency and take responsibility for the success of our client's strategy.
THEEWORD
We are a people-centric organisation that strongly believes that our success begins with the wellbeing and growth of our team. That’s why we focus on creating a healthy work-life balance, offering real opportunities for growth, and building a culture where you can truly thrive. If you’re looking for a place where you’re more than just a job title, where your ideas matter and your development is a priority, you’ll feel right at home here.
We’re creating a world where everyone can find their place. We help property companies increase leads, fill beds, generate footfall and sell homes, with the vision to be the #1 global digital strategy agency for property companies. We do this by using marketing intelligence and audience insights to deliver high-performing digital marketing strategies.
We work with clients who value the way we work, not being afraid of experimenting with new ideas and tactics to get the best results, and who see us as an extension of their team.
THE ROLE
theEword is seeking a Senior Digital Marketing Manager to lead a number of our client accounts. We’re looking for someone who has had at least five years of experience in an agency or in-house marketing team, devising digital strategies and leading the delivery of campaigns across paid media, SEO, content marketing and beyond.
You’ll have a passion for creative experimentation and a data-driven mindset, whilst having the ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
As a Senior Digital Marketing Manager, you’ll be responsible for the path of success for each client, ensuring we meet their digital acquisition & sales objectives, and receive an outstanding experience.
THE DAY-TO-DAY
• Building strong relationships with senior client contacts, engaging in higher-level strategic conversations, and leading Digital Marketing Managers & support teams in line with the client's needs.
• Collaborating with Digital Marketing Managers to set digital marketing strategies for your clients, and oversee the delivery of these campaigns, ensuring we meet client goals, KPIs, and project deadlines.
• Supporting the team with reporting requirements, and monitoring client’s paid media, SEO, social and website performance to find weaknesses and opportunities for testing and continuous improvement.
• Identifying areas for upselling and getting buy-in across your client accounts, promoting our business growth.
• Creating client budget proposals and planning retainer costs strategically for performance (covering paid media spend, digital activity, and management fees).
• Transforming briefs into creative ideas and campaigns that clients and their customers will love, by leveraging your strengths and those of your colleagues.
• Supporting Directors & the Senior Management Team with new business proposals, providing strategic ideas, forecasting KPIs and developing budgets.
• Lead with positivity; inspire, motivate, and coach your team to consistently deliver their best work.
• Provide regular feedback and structured development plans to support team performance and career growth.
• Foster strong, collaborative relationships across the wider agency to deliver integrated client success.
• Anticipate and resolve potential challenges, ensuring smooth delivery and risk mitigation.
• Contribute to hiring and succession planning, ensuring the right people are in place to deliver long-term success.
Essentials
ABOUT YOU
• At least four years working in a strategic Digital Marketing role, with hands-on experience in Paid Media, SEO, CRO, organic social & content marketing. You’ll have a core digital marketing skill that you’re really strong on, but you’ll also have a solid, demonstrable understanding of the rest.
• Demonstrable previous success, having worked on the planning, production and promotion of multiple campaigns in a digital marketing agency or in-house environment.
• Excellent knowledge of Paid Media channels and strategy. You’re able to develop channel-specific strategies that are proven to work and can give partners strategic direction, as well as having the ability to lead on the strategy and actions of an in-house run account.
• Excellent project management skills, having a track record of leading a client team to deliver to deadlines consistently, and problem-solving effectively to overcome challenges.
• Able to build and analyse Looker (formally Data) Studio reports, with the ability to identify what key metrics should be shown in the report and how to set them up.
• Experienced discussing digital marketing and strategy with clients - you’re a source of knowledge for both your clients and your co-workers. You stay updated with digital marketing trends and changes, and love using these insights to upskill the team and optimise campaigns.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a love of working with and being around people.
• Experienced leader with strong coaching, mentoring, and team development skills.
• Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and focus.
• Confident in managing change, championing innovation, and adapting to evolving client needs.
• Committed to inclusive working practices, valuing diversity and creating equitable opportunities for all.
Desirables
• Background in property marketing, within PBSA, residential or BTR is desirable but not essential.
• Certifications across relevant platforms such as Google Ads.
• Able to confidently set up conversion tracking using platforms such as Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, GAds, Meta & TikTok, including setting up and creating pixels.
• Able to work with WordPress and other CMS systems.
• Prior experience of project management tools such as Toggl.
