Senior Director, Global Media

• Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is seeking an inspiring and visionary Sr. Director, Global Media to lead our global media strategy across both brand and performance campaigns. This leadership role will define the future of PlayStation’s media investments by integrating insights-driven planning with full-funnel media execution – helping to grow PlayStation’s brand globally, and driving revenue growth for our D2C sales of products and services. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader, experienced in guiding globally scaled media programs, who thrives on innovation, optimization, and business impact.
Reporting to the VP of Growth, Media, and Omnichannel Marketing, this role will partner across SIE (including Brand, Marketing, E-commerce, Creative, Consumer Insights, Channel Sales, and Finance teams), lead PlayStation’s global media investment discussions, lead a high-performing media team across global markets, and be responsible for PlayStation’s global media agency relationship.
Responsibilities
Media Strategy, Planning, and Activation (Global Strategy, Planning & Delivery)
• Lead SIE’s global media across brands, products, and services, in partnership with marketing vertical owners, regional marketers, and commercial/publishing leads.
• Oversee strategy and balanced execution of brand (ATL) and performance (paid search, programmatic, social, affiliates) media.
• Champion innovation and build a culture of continuous learning, driving media effectiveness and efficiency, and enabling a cross-portfolio investment approach.
• Guide regional marketing and media teams in adapting strategies to local market needs while maintaining global consistency.
Media Leadership
• Responsible for PlayStation’s media agency relationship, budget, and outcomes.
• Develop a portfolio-oriented investment approach, balancing brand equity, demand generation, and activation.
• Lead relationship with strategic media partners, vendors, and key platforms.
• Evaluate and optimize resources, roles, and responsibilities across internal and external teams and develop an optimal media staffing model for SIE’s future.
• Inspire, lead, develop, and grow SIE’s internal media team of strategists, planners, and activation experts through coaching, professional development, and clear performance expectations
• Partner with channel sales team to align consumer media and retail media investments into a synchronized program.
• Work closely with data analytics and vertical marketing teams to continuously assess campaign effectiveness, consumer behaviors, and overall media impact across regions.
Measurement & Operational Excellence
• Create a tangible Center of Excellence for brand and performance media, providing proven methodologies, standardized processes, and education, and telling the team’s story to partners and senior stakeholders across the company.
• Lead discussions with strategic finance, operations, and data & insights teams to ensure transparency, accountability and ROI in media investments.
• Play a leadership role within the broader Growth, Media, and Omnichannel Marketing team, contributing to SIE’s growth marketing transformation with a focus on teamwork, executional excellence, business impact, and accountability.
• Provide strategic partnership to peer leaders across other SIE functions (Vertical Marketing, Influencer/Brand Partnerships, Publishing, Channel Sales, Commercial), influencing ways of working in service of developing an integrated approach to paid media across PlayStation.
Qualifications
• Bachelor degree in Marketing, Communications/ Advertising, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 18+ years’ experience in media strategy, planning, and performance marketing, including global and regional campaign leadership.
• Proven expertise in full-funnel media strategy, attribution methodologies, leveraging media mix models, and scaled e-commerce experience.
• 10+ years of experience managing and developing high-performing teams, across agency and internal resources.
• Insights-led media professional with ability to think creatively and strategically.
• Deep understanding of digital and traditional media channels, consumer behavior, and emerging trends across paid platforms.
• Strong analytical and budgeting capabilities; comfortable planning and executing multi-million-dollar media budgets.
• Advanced communication and negotiation skills; experience working in or with complex matrixed organizations and navigating international market needs.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the expertise and professionalism that will earn respect and trust with internal team members and external vendors.
• Inspiring leader that has the proven ability to lead and develop a globally distributed team.
