Role description
John Evans Recruiting is representing a fast-growing, well-established DTC e-commerce company in the fashion space in their search for a Senior Director of Merchandising. This is a newly created, hands-on leadership role that will guide product strategy and manage a team of five Merchant Directors to shape collections.
The Sr. Director of Merchandising must be onsite 4 days a week in the Rhode Island office. Our client will pay for full relocation to the area.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the Merchandising Team: Manage and mentor a team of 5 Merchandise Directors.
• Product Strategy/Development: Develop smart, customer-focused product assortments using trend insights, data, and competitor analysis.
• Performance Analysis: Review sales, margins, and inventory performance to improve pricing, reduce clutter, and boost results.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work with Marketing, Creative, and other departments to launch and promote new product collections.
• Market & Trend Research: Stay current on trends, materials, customer preferences, and competitor activity.
• Customer-Focused Planning: Use customer data to create targeted, timely product offerings.
• Team Development: Build a strong, forward-thinking team culture focused on innovation and results.
Requirements:
• 10+ years of merchandising experience, including at least 5 years in a senior-level role
• Excellent team leadership and mentorship abilities
• Strong background in DTC e-commerce
• Fashion industry experience with apparel, beauty, jewelry, or accessories products preferred
• Product development expertise
• Proven success growing sales and improving product margins
• Experience managing 10,000+ SKUs
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
