Role description
We're seeking a strategic email marketing leader to drive client success across our diverse portfolio of e-commerce brands. This role combines high-level strategic thinking with hands-on execution, requiring someone who can architect sophisticated email programs while mentoring team members and building lasting client relationships. You'll own the strategic direction of email marketing for 10-15 client accounts, working with brands like luxury retailers, lifestyle companies, and emerging e-commerce businesses. This position offers the opportunity to shape email marketing best practices across our agency while driving meaningful revenue growth for our clients. Strategic Leadership • Client Strategy & Relationship Management: Lead quarterly and monthly planning sessions, present performance insights, and develop campaign concepts aligned with product launches, collaborations, and seasonal events • Performance Analysis & Optimization: Interpret complex analytics to identify underperforming areas, create actionable improvement strategies, and develop advanced targeting logic for VIP customers and high-value segments • Creative Direction & Brand Consistency: Architect customer journeys in Klaviyo (welcome, post-purchase, win-back, loyalty flows) and ensure all touchpoints match brand identity and strategic goals • Innovation & Market Analysis: Monitor competitor campaigns, test new Klaviyo features, and implement emerging email marketing trends across client programs Technical Execution • Campaign Development: Build complex segmented campaigns, implement A/B testing strategies, and ensure proper UTM tracking and analytics setup • Platform Management: Serve as primary Klaviyo expert, managing advanced automation workflows, deliverability optimization, and technical troubleshooting • Quality Assurance: Conduct final reviews of key campaigns and flows before launch to ensure brand alignment and technical accuracy • Reporting & Documentation: Create comprehensive performance reports and maintain strategic documentation for client programs Team Leadership • Mentoring: Guide junior team members on Klaviyo best practices, segmentation strategies, and optimization techniques through weekly meetings and training sessions • Process Development: Establish email marketing standards and create scalable frameworks that can grow with the team • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with account managers, content, and design teams to align execution with strategic objectives Experience & Skills • 5+ years in email marketing, including 2+ years in strategic leadership • Advanced Klaviyo expertise (automation, segmentation, analytics) • Excellent communication skills for client and internal presentations • Strategic and execution-minded; skilled at balancing long-term and day-to-day needs • Leadership experience mentoring teams and improving processes • Client relationship management and performance storytelling abilities • Strong project management across multiple priorities and deadlines • Prior agency experience managing diverse client portfolios • Exposure to other ESPs and automation platforms • Background in subscription e-commerce, luxury, or lifestyle brands • Relevant certifications in email/digital marketing • Strong grasp of e-commerce lifecycle marketing, retention, and revenue optimization • Proven ability to manage multiple accounts and deliver high performance • Analytical mindset with ability to turn complex data into actionable strategy Technical Requirements • Deep knowledge of deliverability, compliance (CAN-SPAM, GDPR), and best practices • Proficient in UTM tracking, Google Analytics, and attribution • Familiar with SMS integration and multi-channel campaign coordination • ESP: Klaviyo (advanced features + SMS) • Analytics: Google Analytics, native reporting, custom dashboards • Design: Figma/Adobe Creative Suite
