Senior Manager, Category Enablement & Strategic Initiatives, LocalFinds
Job Description
What you'll do...
Are you ready to shape the future of local shopping on one of the world’s largest retail platforms? The LocalFinds team at Walmart is on a mission to revolutionize how customers discover and engage with local products and businesses- offering seamless experiences from first click to final checkout. As a key driver of our Customer Experience strategy team, you’ll own the development and testing of end-to-end user journeys. This role will require cross-functional partnerships, strategic thinking and detail-oriented skills to deliver a frictionless and engaging experience to the Walmart customer.
About Walmart LocalFinds
The LocalFinds team is on a mission to revolutionize the shopping experience for customers seeking local products and businesses on Walmart's platforms. We are dedicated to building and scaling innovative ways for customers to discover and engage with local sellers seamlessly.
Why this role matters
Local Finds is Walmart’s new marketplace experience, showcasing hyper-local sellers and hard-to-find products. Alcohol is our first high-stakes vertical: it carries complex regulation, high customer expectations and enormous growth potential.
As the Senior Manager, Category Enablement & Strategic Initiatives, you will (1) own the end-to-end category enablement playbook— assortment, compliance, CX, fulfilment—and (2) lead a horizontal “long-pole” program office that incubates the next big ideas for Local Finds. Your work will remove friction today and chart the roadmap for tomorrow.
Key Responsibilities:
• Craft and continuously optimize the alcohol go-to-market strategy (assortment, pricing, fulfilment, compliance).
• Serve as single-threaded owner of Alcohol within the “4-in-the-Box” (Product, Design, Tech, Ops) cadence—driving prioritization, sprint readiness, and KPI reviews.
• Run a lightweight PMO that sources, sizes and shepherds high-impact bets (e.g., same-day local pickup network, AI-driven listing quality, community-sourced curation).
• Lead cross-functional workstreams, owning timelines, resources and risk registers for multi-quarter programs across marketing, supply-chain, finance and legal.
• Use discovery frameworks (JTBD interviews, design sprints) to surface unmet customer and seller needs; translate findings into business cases and OKRs.
• Create executive-ready communications on progress, learnings and pivots that influence VP/SVP stakeholders.
• Identify, structure and execute discovery-to-delivery projects—mapping stakeholders, clarifying scope, prioritising work, and guiding teams end-to-end to unlock new opportunities and solve complex problems.
Minimum Qualifications
• 8+ years in category management, strategy consulting or program management within e-commerce/CPG; 3+ years directly leading people or large-scale initiatives.
• Demonstrated success launching or scaling an age-restricted category (alcohol, tobacco, pharma) or similarly regulated vertical online.
• Deep fluency in category analytics, P&L ownership and cross-functional leadership; comfort with ambiguity and “zero-to-one” builds.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Supply-Chain, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
• MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
• Familiarity with US alcohol laws, ID-scanning tech stacks, and 3-tier distribution a plus
• Previous experience in management consulting or corporate strategy accelerating net-new growth programs.
You’ll wow us if you…
• Translate messy problem spaces into crisp frameworks and north-star metrics.
• Influence without authority, energizing diverse partners to deliver bold outcomes.
• Balance strategic vision with hands-on execution—equally at ease in an executive readout or configuring a Jira board.
At Walmart, we offer competitive pay as well as performance-based bonus awards and other great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet. Health benefits include medical, vision and dental coverage. Financial benefits include 401(k), stock purchase and company-paid life insurance. Paid time off benefits include PTO (including sick leave), parental leave, family care leave, bereavement, jury duty, and voting. Other benefits include short-term and long-term disability, company discounts, Military Leave Pay, adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, and more.
You will also receive PTO and/or PPTO that can be used for vacation, sick leave, holidays, or other purposes. The amount you receive depends on your job classification and length of employment. It will meet or exceed the requirements of paid sick leave laws, where applicable.
