Role description
We are looking for a Senior Merchandise Planner for a 6 month contract to be responsible for demand forecasting and aligning tops-down and bottoms-up inventory plans for select product categories, identifying critical risks and opportunities and impact on planned demand. The Senior Merchandise Planner is also responsible for data integrity, size curve integrity, SKU and purchase order management for assigned categories, and for being a NetSuite expert. The main objective is to determine the proper investment levels across styles, sizes and sales channels in an omnichannel environment in order to achieve sales and product margin targets. Also responsible for aligning on cross-functional business plans and product level forecasting and receipt plans. We need someone who is an excellent cross-functional partner, with very high level proficiency in data analysis, and ability to provide detailed sales and inventory analysis in a clear, succinct manner. The ability to pull a thread across strategy, insights and intuition to story-tell data and influence across a diverse range of audiences will be key. You have strong commercial and product instincts in addition to top-notch analysis skills. You are experienced in forecasting systems and OTB process, and are comfortable navigating in an ever-changing retail landscape. You are an excellent communicator and are extremely proactive. You are enthusiastic to learn, you ask questions, you find opportunities to share knowledge with others and work well in a team-oriented, collaborative, fast-paced environment. You are extremely detail-oriented and accuracy-oriented. Responsibilities • Category & Product Planning - Own monthly forecast for product in assigned categories, incorporating any bottoms-up trends into forecast and communicating beats/misses to forecast and action plans to capitalize on opportunities and minimize risks. • Size Planning - Analyze size selling and identify opportunities by size; maintain size curves for key styles based on in-stock selling and new styles based on historicals. Analyze size selling differences by channel and incorporate into the model. • Inventory Investments - Make buy recommendations to ensure product availability to meet monthly sales forecasts while optimizing inventory turns and hitting inventory KPIs. • Business Insights - Analyze selling patterns across styles, colors and sizes to understand customer demand in an omnichannel environment. Develop action plans to drive product performance and forecasting. • Channel Expansion - Work with Associate Director, Inventory Planning to set sales and inventory targets for sales channels including ecommerce, retail, wholesale and Amazon. Optimize processes and tools for omnichannel sales analysis, receipt plans and allocation. • SKU Management - responsible for creating new skus and maintaining the item master in Netsuite. Oversee critical inputs and partners with cross functional teams to ensure deliverables are met in a timely manner. • PO Management - Issue and manage purchase orders for all products from creation through delivery. Partner with production and logistics teams on PO changes. Monitor timing of POs to distribution centers to support core in-stocks and new product launches. Qualifications • Minimum 5-7 years merchandise planning or demand planning for an apparel or consumer product company; preferably in intimates or numeric-sizing category. • Experienced in demand forecasting and OTB planning in an omnichannel environment (ecommerce, retail and wholesale channels) • Strong working knowledge of demand planning tools including enterprise (SAP, Oracle) or online • Highly-collaborative cross-functional partner, working with merchandising, production, FP&A, and operations/logistics • Ability to analyze large data sets from various sources and make recommendations that drive the business forward. Wizard at analysis and identifying business patterns. • Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly to different levels of management to drive action • Strong organizational and written and oral communication skills • Expert in Intermediate & Advanced Microsoft Excel • High level proficiency in GSuite applications (Google Sheets, Docs, Slides) preferred • Proficiency in Netsuite ERP preferred • Experience implementing new planning/forecasting tools or systems a plus • Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize workload.
