Role description
A national women's accessible fashion retailer has a fast growing ecommerce business that needs an experienced Digital Merchant. If data, intuition and innovation in a fast paced environment is your calling this could be your next step.
This role must be able to contribute in the following ways:
• Revenue & Margin Growth: Drive online sales and margin performance through strategic digital merchandising, with a focus on accelerating omni-channel growth and delivering against company objectives.
• eCommerce Assortment Strategy: Lead the development and execution of monthly eCommerce assortment plans in partnership with planning and merchandising—aligning seasonal sales plans, productivity targets, and choice counts to deliver compelling and relevant product assortments.
• Site Merchandising & Innovation: Own day-to-day site merchandising strategy including homepage, featured shops, and navigation—driving conversion through product presentation, real-time performance insights, and creative optimization.
• Trend Monitoring & Competitive Insights: Implement a structured approach to competitive analysis and trend identification, using findings to influence assortment, site strategy, and customer experience enhancements.
• Performance Reporting & Analytics: Lead weekly business review meetings, providing actionable insights via weekly, monthly, and seasonal reports. Leverage tools like Google Analytics and Crazy Egg to identify trends, optimize site behavior, and inform key decisions.
• Content Strategy & Creative Briefing: Partner with marketing and creative teams to brief and prioritize content and photography needs across landing pages and site features that support storytelling, seasonal initiatives, and brand experience.
• Site Launch & Calendar Management: Own and maintain the site product launch calendar to ensure flawless execution of assortments, category updates, and promotional stories.
• Merchandising Rules & Optimization: Develop and maintain site merchandising guidelines (e.g., sort order logic) that drive conversion across category, sub-category, and themed pages—using data and behavior metrics to inform and iterate.
• Customer Experience Insights: Use tools such as real time site interaction, heat mapping, filter/navigation tracking, and search analysis to better understand the customer journey—identifying opportunities to improve navigation, conversion, and basket size.
• Cross-Functional Execution: Collaborate with creative services, marketing, planning, product management, fulfillment, and operations to align strategies and ensure seamless execution.
• Team Leadership & Development: Manage, coach, and develop the digital merchandising team—driving accountability, innovation, and results through ongoing mentorship and goal alignment.
• Strategic Expansion & Omni Influence: Apply direct-to-consumer analytics and practices to support boutique growth and assortment expansion strategies, including region-specific opportunities such as climate-based assortment planning.
• Platform & Process Innovation: Champion technology and capability enhancements by unlocking insights through search, post-purchase tools, and 3rd party platforms—streamlining reporting and driving smarter decisions.
Must Haves:
• 10+ years of experience in online merchandising within a multi-channel retail environment.
• 5+ years of people management experience with a strong ability to coach, influence, and inspire.
• Proven expertise in assortment optimization, promotional planning, and digital storytelling.
• Deep understanding of customer behavior, conversion drivers, and digital KPIs.
• Proficiency in web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Crazy Egg, or equivalent).
• Familiarity with heat mapping, A/B testing, filter/navigation optimization, and post-purchase platform metrics.
• Strategic thinker with strong execution skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
