Senior Search Engineer Our Mission ModeSens is an intelligent shopping assistant that enables consumers to find the item at the best price. Position Overview We are seeking a talented Senior Search Engineer to lead the development and optimization of our search systems. This role will focus on enhancing keyword, image, and filter-based search experiences for our platform in English and local languages (e.g., Chinese), delivering fast, accurate, and personalized search results that delight our users. Key Responsibilities: • Design, implement, and optimize search algorithms for keyword, image-based, and filter-based queries. • Build and maintain search architecture to power optimized customer search and filter experiences. • Improve relevance, ranking, and overall search experience across English and local languages. • Develop advanced filtering and faceted search functionalities to help users find products quickly and intuitively. • Establish KPIs and measurement systems to evaluate and continuously improve the customer search experience. • Collaborate with product, design, and data teams to define search features and user experience improvements. • Analyze search metrics and user behavior to identify pain points and opportunities. • Evaluate and integrate emerging search technologies, such as vector search, AI-based ranking, and NLP techniques. • Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of search infrastructure at large scale. • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers on search technologies and best practices. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. • 5+ years of experience building and optimizing search systems in a production environment. • Strong experience with search technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, or similar platforms. • Proficiency in search architecture design, NLP, information retrieval, recommendation algorithms, and search filtering/faceted navigation. • Experience with multilingual search, preferably English and local languages (e.g., Chinese). • Familiarity with image search technologies and computer vision techniques. • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or similar languages. • Experience with large-scale data processing and search indexing pipelines. • Experience defining and tracking KPIs for search or user experience metrics. • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. • Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin. Preferred Qualifications: • Knowledge of AI/ML techniques applied to search ranking and personalization. • Experience with e-commerce platforms or fashion-related search.
