About The Role Fluency in Italian required. Job Summary As a part of the Shopify Revenue team, the Solutions Engineer role brings business value, technical aptitude, and product expertise to drive success for our merchants. In this pivotal role, the SE will act as a trusted advisor from the start of sales opportunities, guiding clients through pre-sales activities, activation, migration, and their first sale. This ensures a smooth and efficient project launch on our platform while helping to solve technical and business challenges faced by both prospective and existing brands on Shopify Plus. About The Role As a Solutions Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the Shopify Revenue team, primarily focusing on pre-sales activities while also supporting the onboarding and activation of merchants ensuring revenue realization. You will work directly with notable brands and entrepreneurs to develop their commerce strategies, whether they are starting a commerce business, building an omni-channel solution, or leveraging the power of Shopify Payments to scale. In addition to driving the technical solutioning for our merchants during the pre-sales stage (e.g., building proof of concepts (POCs), leading demonstrations), you will guide some of the largest and fastest-growing merchants through the onboarding process, breaking down technical barriers and ensuring a successful activation. You will provide expert guidance throughout their journey on the Shopify platform, consulting on intricate functionality and integrations. Your role will also involve maintaining strong relationships with adjacent teams, such as R&D, Sales, and Customer Success, to contribute to the overall growth and success of our merchants. Projects, activities, and expectations of your role include • Engage in requirements discovery and strategic consulting sessions with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions, including guidance on topics like data migration, 3rd party integrations, business scaling, hardware management, and front-end development. • Work collaboratively with sales and development partners/agencies to qualify and close deals from a technical standpoint. • Create customized product demos and proof of concepts for client demonstrations, both virtually and on-site. • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in projects with cross-functional teams, ensuring successful onboarding and activation of high-value merchants while helping them go live on Shopify Plus. • Maintain strong relationships with adjacent teams, such as R&D, Sales, and Customer Success, to foster collaboration and contribute to merchant success. • Be a constant learner by owning your own development and staying up-to-date with the latest Shopify product updates and industry trends. • Travel for customer on-site visits and events will be expected in the range of :20%. Requirements for the role • 2+ years of experience in presales solutions engineering, consulting, or customer-facing roles in SaaS or commerce implementation. • Enthusiastic about AI tools and able to leverage them to optimize resources and enhance project delivery efficiency. • Strong executive presence, capable of articulating and advocating ideas to key stakeholders and driving consensus in decision-making processes. • Solid understanding of cloud-based technologies, SaaS fundamentals, and e-commerce trends. • Strong API knowledge (REST and GraphQL) and hands-on skills in front-end web development (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Liquid) for enterprise integrations. • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills combined with the desire to tackle challenges head-on. • Strong ability to prioritize tasks in a high-velocity environment while managing multiple accounts simultaneously. • Project management and agile mindset. This is not a true project management role, but does share some skills with it, especially managing expectations and creating alignment. In some cases, you'll be reviewing formal project outlines from merchants to confirm requirements for successful onboarding. • Full professional proficiency in English and Italian Bonus experience: • Commerce experience and knowledge of latest trends (storefront implementation, omni-channel, supply chain, B2B) • Experience with the Shopify platform and understanding of its application ecosystem and integrations. • You’re an entrepreneur yourself and possess a growth mindset.
