Role description
The Opportunity: Head of E-commerce
We are seeking a strategic, hands-on e-commerce leader to build and scale the direct-to-consumer experience across our portfolio of five professional education brands, with a primary focus on our largest brand, The School of Professional Engineering.
This is a unique opportunity for an individual who is both a strategic thinker and a tactical doer. As a one-person team reporting directly to the CMO, you will have end-to-end ownership of the e-commerce experience.
You will:
• Own the entire e-commerce ecosystem, including our Shopify storefronts and all digital user journeys.
• Lead all conversion rate optimization (CRO) initiatives, from ideation and A/B testing to implementation and analysis.
• Drive revenue and long-term customer value by optimizing conversion funnels and user experiences.
• Analyze key performance metrics using tools like GA4 and Hotjar to inform decisions and measure success.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in marketing, design, and product to ensure a cohesive customer experience.
• Ruthlessly prioritize projects to focus on high-impact improvements that generate quick wins and long-term growth.
Who You Are
You have a builder's mindset and a proven track record of creating and optimizing e-commerce experiences. You are highly analytical, metrics-driven, and excited by the opportunity to own the strategy and execution for a growing portfolio of brands.
Key qualifications:
• 5-7+ years of experience owning e-commerce for a high-growth, direct-to-consumer company. Experience in the education or training industry is a plus.
• Deep expertise in Shopify, with hands-on experience building and managing storefronts.
• Strong knowledge of conversion funnels, performance metrics, and A/B testing frameworks.
• Proficiency in GA4 and other analytics tools like Hotjar or CrazyEgg.
• Comfort with basic HTML/CSS and an understanding of user experience principles.
• Experience with e-commerce price points in the $500 - $2,000 range and a thoughtful approach to pricing strategy.
• A bonus if you have experience using generative AI for content creation or marketing automation.
