Job Summary
The Sr. Web Developer / Application Engineer is a full-time, hybrid position in Chanhassen, MN, reporting to the IT Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both front-end and back-end software development, with a passion for building robust and scalable solutions. You will be responsible for developing, testing, and deploying applications, as well as maintaining and extending code on our BigCommerce eCommerce stores. The candidate will also become a subject matter expert (SME) on the technical aspects of our major business applications and processes, some of which reside on externally-hosted 3rdβparty platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Analysis & Support
β’ Expertise: Become knowledgeable on in-house developed applications and 3rd-party applications, understand the data flows in/out of these systems, and document the processes, as needed.
β’ Project Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams and IT leadership on projects involving new system implementations, upgrades, or migrations.
β’ User Support: Troubleshoot issues and respond to support tickets in a timely manner.
β’ Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain up-to-date technical documentation in SharePoint, Wiki, or other shared servers. Share knowledge with other team members and end users.
β’ Database Platforms: Troubleshooting for Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL.
β’ Data Warehousing & Reporting: Assist with SSIS, Power BI, and ETL/ELT processes.
Software Development
β’ Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software using HTML/JavaScript/Node.js, Python, and PHP.
β’ Work with various frameworks and libraries, including BigCommerce Stencil, BigCommerce Handlebars, Django, Pandas, and Puppeteer.
β’ Develop applications utilizing MS SQL Server, MySQL, and Google BigQuery databases.
β’ Manage and enhance the codebase of over 80 BigCommerce e-commerce sites.
β’ Maintain and configure Linux servers running Apache 2/Django web servers.
β’ Manage code repositories using GitHub/GitLab.
β’ Implement automated workflows with Jenkins CI.
β’ Build Power BI reports, with an emphasis on Google BigQuery.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
β’ Troubleshoot and debug issues in production environments.
β’ Work in both Windows and Linux operating systems.
