Job Summary
Chem-X is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing finance team. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the companyβs day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with accounting standards. The Staff Accountant will assist with general ledger entries, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, tax reporting for e-commerce sales, and financial statement preparation. This position requires strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, proficiency in accounting software (such as Avalara, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or equivalent), and a drive to contribute and grow with Chem-X!
Key Responsibilities
Β· Account Reconciliation - Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.
Β· General Ledger Management β Prepare and post journal entries, maintain accurate account balances, and ensure compliance with GAAP.
Β· Financial Reporting β Assist with preparation of internal financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.Β· Month-End & Year-End Close β Support closing processes by ensuring timely, accurate recording of revenues, expenses, and accruals.
Β· Process Improvement β Identify and recommend ways to streamline accounting procedures and improve accuracy/efficiency.
Β· Cross-Department Collaboration β Work closely with operations, sales, and leadership to ensure accurate financial tracking of company activities.
Β· Inventory Management Support - Monitor inventory transactions, cost of goods sold, and assist with periodic counts and reconciliations (important for a product-based company like Chem-X).
Β· Perform additional duties and take on special projects as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to support the broader goals of the company.
Qualifications
Β· Previous experience with e-commerce and familiarity with Shopify, Amazon.
Β· Solid Understanding of GAAP, and necessary core accounting principles.
Β· Accounting software knowledge including Avalara, Intuit QuickBooks, Oracle NetSuite, and Microsoft Excel.
Β· Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting needs.
Β· High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Β· Willingness to take on new challenges and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Β· Compensation: $55,000 - $70,000 Annually, negotiable based on knowledge and experience.
