Role description
We are seeking a highly organized and strategic Timepiece Buyer to oversee vendor relationships, inventory management, and product performance within our Timepiece Category. This role will serve as the primary point of contact for vendors, ensuring strong partnerships, optimizing inventory levels, and driving sales. The ideal candidate has experience in the luxury retail industry, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for fine jewelry and watches. Key Responsibilities: Vendor & Business Management: • Serve as the main point of contact for vendors, fostering strong and collaborative relationships. • Coordinate product knowledge training and communicate new product launches with stores. • Attend market appointments, review new products, and make purchasing decisions. • Manage vendor relationships to maximize sales, profitability, and business growth. • Send monthly reports to all vendors and verify sales/on-hand information in vendor portals. Sales Analysis & E-Commerce Support: • Conduct monthly sales analysis to identify key trends and opportunities, sharing insights internally and with vendors. • Monitor the business to determine reorder opportunities and liabilities. Negotiate with vendors on returns of slow sellers. • Identify products for online sales and collaborate with the E-commerce Manager to ensure timely website updates. Inventory Management & Stock Processing: • Receive stock and special-order merchandise, ensuring accurate data entry into the system. • Conduct basic quality control inspections to verify merchandise integrity before stocking. • Process and enter returns to vendors, ensuring merchandise is properly prepared for shipment. • Tag and image incoming products to ensure readiness for the sales floor. Marketing & Events Collaboration: • Partner with the marketing team to support new product launches, events, and promotional initiatives. • Assist with trunk shows, unpack merchandise, set up fixtures, and contribute to visual merchandising efforts. Store Partnership & Visual Merchandising: • Ensure visual displays meet brand standards across all store locations and communicate directives effectively. • Provide sales staff with accurate product knowledge and insights to enhance customer interactions. • Offer feedback and product training to sales teams and management to strengthen in-store execution. Qualifications & Skills: • Industry Expertise: Strong understanding of the luxury goods market. Fine Jewelry and Timepiece experience a plus but not required. • Vendor & Negotiation Skills: Demonstrated ability to build relationships, and network within an industry. • Decision-Making & Judgment: Ability to assess business needs and make data-driven decisions. • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external collaboration. • Analytical & Technical Skills: Strong ability to analyze sales data, identify trends, and leverage technology for inventory and vendor management. • Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook
