Job Description:
Innovative tech company is seeking a talented SW Software Engineer to join the team and lead the productization, QA, and customer delivery of the code base as the company rapidly scales to delight customers and grow the business.
Company is a visual AI technology company transforming the journey from vision to decision by revolutionizing image capture and analysis.
Recently launched breakthrough computational imaging technology in a first high value e-commerce application and the impact has been immediate and positive.
Position Overview
Looking for a talented and experienced Software Engineer / Leader that can span a wide range of responsibilities, from writing and reviewing code, to testing and managing the quality of the product, to working with B2B customers to ensure successful delivery and integration of products.
A lean and agile team seeking an engineer who can both lead, do the work, and own the outcome.
Early in the journey but already have a viable product and proven product-market fit, so you will need to work closely with the engineering and executive team to professionalize and productize the code base as company transitions from launch to scaling. Unique opportunity to have a big impact by working closely with a small start-up team poised to disrupt large high-value e-commerce markets.
Key Responsibilities
• Software Product and Quality: Own the quality, deployment, and maintenance of SDK and fully managed mobile apps for iOS and Android platforms, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Customer-Focused Delivery: Ensure the SDK and managed apps meet the needs of large enterprise clients and their end-users, maintaining high standards of usability, performance, and security.
• Release & Feature Management: Establish and manage release cycles, feature roadmaps, and task tracking processes to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software updates and new features.
• Contribute to Software Development and Engineering: Work closely with a small software development team to understand all aspects of the code and contribute to the optimization, efficiency, and documentation of the code.
• Contribute to Data Analytics & Visualization: Work with the team to ensure that the SDK, app, and backend systems are collecting, analyzing, and visualizing user data, enabling actionable insights for internal teams and customers. Contribute to the team effort to develop tools (dashboards, database queries etc.) to provide intuitive data access and reporting.
• Opportunity for Team Leadership as our organization grows: opportunity to build, mentor, and lead a high-performing software engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• 10+ years of hands-on full stack software engineering experience, with a proven track record as a prolific developer who writes high-quality, production-ready code (iOS and also Android).
• Strong proficiency with coding in Swift (iOS), Java/Kotlin (Android) and Python (AWS lambda functions) and SQL (Postgres SQL server).
• Ability to establish and maintain a software developer life cycle (SDLC), including best practices use of version control, feature tracking, and build and release tools.
• Experience developing and delivering SDKs or APIs for enterprise clients, ensuring seamless integration into third-party mobile apps.
• Proven success in managing end-to-end software development lifecycles, including release cycles, feature prioritization, and task tracking, while remaining hands-on in critical development tasks.
• Ability to balance strategic leadership with deep technical contributions, such as architecting systems, debugging complex issues, and driving code quality standards. Very small team so this requires close collaboration, a willingness to do the work, and own the outcome.
• Excellent team, collaboration, and communication skills to drive outcomes and communicate with both technical and commercial team members.
• Optional: 5+ years of leadership experience (e.g., Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, or Director), with a focus on fostering a collaborative, innovative team culture.
What You’ll Get
• Opportunity to work on a cutting-edge computational imaging technology which is poised to revolutionize the value of visualAI.
• Opportunity to shape the product development of a highly disruptive and impactful e-commerce technology with proven product-market fit.
• Opportunity to join an early-stage tech company at the ground floor and have a big impact on the product, code, team and customer relationships.
• A collaborative and innovative small team environment.
• Flexible work arrangement - prefer an individual who can work with our engineering team in a small laboratory based south of Silicon Valley (vs. full-time remote) - with flexible hours and the option for work-from home some days each week.
