Role description
We're looking to recruit a skilled video and photography person to join our team at Pocket Creatives. The Role As an in-house role, we're looking for the right person who we can rely on to provide the hands-on technical and creative shooting for both our video and photography projects. Working across a variety of sectors (food & drink, beauty & cosmetics, products, tech), you could be working on everything from ecommerce shoots to brand films, social content and ads, right up to TV ads. As we've avoided niching ourselves, we've developed a real strength for being flexible, adaptable and resilient, which means that we're able to tackle a wider range of projects - allowing us to keep creativity and enjoyment high - who wants to do the same thing every day!? We currently shoot: • Food and drink - products, restaurants, recipes • Beauty and cosmetics - products, model applications, how-to • Brand films and social ads - • Corporate content - interview and b-roll • Corporate and team headshots • Events - multi-camera coverage, and single op videography-style • Ecommerce - dull against white packshots, lifestyle product shots, short product videos • Social content (ie high volume and variation) We've set a level of production quality that we're keen to build on. You'll be able to see loads of examples of our work on our company website, and you'll see where we are in terms of client expectations. We also need the right fit in terms of the person: we'd love an excellent communicator, someone who delivers the basics without having to think twice, hardworking, flexible and resilient under pressure. The role is based in our London Battersea office, but we offer genuine hybrid working, so we don't enforce a number of days in any location - you'll go where you're needed, and if you're not needed on set, you don't need to do battle on the tube or the bus! The opportunities for growth in this role are huge, and we want the right person who's both keen and capable of embarking on the next steps of our company growth with us. Your Skills: At your core, you'll need to be a confident camera operator - who can work both on location and in the studio, and both for video and stills. Key role and responsibilities: • During pre-production and quoting stages, work in collaboration with the production team to enable us to build the ideal schedules and shooting plans. • Complete video and/or photography shoots - either working as part of a team on standard and larger shoots, or independently on what we would call 'videography briefs' such as event coverage or short product-based requests. • Build and maintain our base of kit, which can be tailored to your preferences once settled. • Secondary functions include post-production on both photography and video editing, where you aren't booked on shoot days. • Note that whilst most of our shoots are in London, we have lots of clients and potentials outside of the capital and abroad - which will involve overnight stays and longer journeys where required. • Actively research and advise on trends and new technologies. About Us Pocket has been running since 2017, and we've grown considerably in that time. We've developed resilience in the face of all that's been thrown at us (and everyone else!) from COVID to the cost of living crisis, and the impacts of the economy. We're still standing, and have a great team who are invested in pushing the company forwards. We operate as what I call a Full Service Production Team - we're not an agency: so whilst we'll take responsibility for everything from project planning to shoot, to delivery, we won't write social strategies and we don't cross into marketing functions. This means that we're really well-placed to support marketing agencies who have a need for content/video/stills but don't have the capacity in-house. It also means that we're a great fit for brands of different sizes who look after their own marketing - who we'll then typically support with high quality content. As we go forward, there's now the need to grow into the trends much more tightly than we do currently. Whilst we've stayed true to the high quality, professional service that we've always offered we now have to be able to stretch that to include filming confidently on smartphones, including technologies ranging from livestreaming, to 360 cameras, to drones, AI services and whatever comes next. It's a wonderful time to be joining us - you have the ability to take ownership, work with autonomy, and have a real say and involvement as the business grows.
