Your assignment
This position includes leading and managing the retail national account sales teams, setting sales targets, analyzing market trends and building relationships with key customers.
The VP also collaborates with other departments like marketing and product development to ensure cohesive product launch strategies. In addition to managing the retail sales channel, the VP of Retail Sales will manage the e-commerce team.
Essential duties:
• Sales Strategy and Planning: Developing and executing comprehensive retail sales strategies, setting revenue targets, and creating sales forecasts.
• Team Leadership: Managing and motivating the retail sales teams, providing guidance, training, and performance management to ensure team success.
• Customer Performance Oversight: Overseeing all aspects of retail sales operations including e-commerce, point of sale analysis, forecasting, and promotional activity.
• Market Analysis: Conducting in-store and desktop research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive pricing and new product activities, and potential growth opportunities.
• Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key retail and e-commerce partners, and stakeholders.
• Performance Monitoring: Tracking and analyzing sales data, preparing reports, and presenting findings to executive leadership.
• Budget Management: Developing and managing the retail sales department budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost control.
• Collaboration: Working closely with marketing, product development, supply chain and other departments to align sales strategies with overall business objectives. Fosters a collaborative culture built on accountability, recognition and professional growth.

• Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of the retail industry, market trends, and competitor activities. Proven success leading and developing teams. Knowledge in roofing, decking, and/ or construction fasteners is preferred.
Success criteria:
• Achieve retail and corporate growth and profitability targets.
• Sales growth from share of shelf with existing customers and acquisition of new customers.
• Execution of effective channel pricing strategy.
• E-commerce growth to 10%+ of business.

Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in the building materials industry required, with experience managing omni-channel accounts.
• 10+ years of direct retail senior sales experience with key retail national accounts including The Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Menards.
• Strong category knowledge or previous responsibility with e-commerce and other national retailers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Power BI, and Google platforms.
• 25-40% travel required.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
