Job Summary We’re seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our finance team. In this role, you will support both Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions, assist with inventory reconciliations, and ensure accurate purchase‐order to invoice matching. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with Shopify and Amazon platforms, is familiar with basic inventory‐management processes, and thrives in a fast-paced e-commerce environment. Key Responsibilities • Accounts Payable & Expense Processing • Process vendor invoices, expense reports, and payment runs in a timely manner. • Match purchase orders (POs) to invoices and resolve discrepancies. • Coordinate with purchasing and operations teams to validate pricing, terms, and delivery details. • Reconcile vendor statements and investigate outstanding balances. • Accounts Receivable & Invoicing • Generate and send invoices for wholesale, retail, and distribution channels (including Shopify and Amazon sell-through fees, chargebacks, etc.). • Monitor customer accounts, apply payments, and follow up on overdue receivables. • Research and resolve billing issues or disputes raised by customers or internal stakeholders. • Prepare AR aging reports and present insights to management. • Inventory & Cost Reconciliation • Assist with monthly inventory reconciliations by comparing POs, receiving records, and AP invoices. • Collaborate with warehouse or 3PL partners to validate inventory counts and cost‐of‐goods‐sold (COGS) entries. • Identify and investigate variances between system records (Shopify, Amazon, ERP) and financial records. • Support periodic stock‐in‐transit audits and cycle counts. • E-commerce Platform Support • Maintain accurate accounting data for Shopify and Amazon sales channels, including fees, returns, and promotional adjustments. • Work cross-functionally with Digital Marketing and Operations to ensure proper revenue recognition and reconciliation of platform remittances. • Extract sales and fee reports from Shopify and Amazon Seller Central, then reconcile to GL accounts. • General Ledger & Month-End Close • Assist with journal entries related to AP, AR, inventory adjustments, and bank reconciliations. • Support month-end closing tasks, including accruals, prepaids, and intercompany entries (if applicable). • Prepare ad hoc financial analyses, variance reports, and audit schedules. • Process Improvement & Controls • Identify opportunities to streamline AP/AR workflows and strengthen internal controls. • Document and update SOPs for purchase-to-pay, order-to-cash, and inventory reconciliation processes. • Participate in system implementation or upgrades, especially related to accounting, ERP, or e-commerce integrations. • Ad Hoc Projects • Collaborate on budgeting or forecasting exercises as needed. • Support external audits, tax filings, and compliance initiatives with organized schedules and backup documentation. • Provide data for KPI tracking (e.g., DSO, DPO, inventory turnover) and assist leadership in decision-making. Required Qualifications • Education & Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. • 2+ years of full‐cycle accounting experience, ideally in an e-commerce or consumer‐goods environment. • Direct exposure to Shopify (e.g., Shopify Admin, reporting, fee reconciliations) and Amazon Seller Central (e.g., settlement reconciliation, chargebacks, advertising fees). • Technical Skills • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero) and Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables). • Familiarity with inventory‐management principles and basic costing methods (FIFO/LIFO). • Ability to extract, analyze, and reconcile data from multiple systems (Shopify, Amazon, ERP/GL). • Analytical & Detail Orientation • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify discrepancies, research root causes, and implement solutions. • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, reconciliations, and reporting. • Communication & Collaboration • Solid written and verbal communication skills to liaise with vendors, customers, and internal teams (Operations, Purchasing, Marketing). • Team player who thrives in a cross-functional environment and can explain accounting concepts to non‐accountants. • Time Management & Organization • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines in a month-end close environment, and adapt to changing business needs. • Proven track record of maintaining organized documentation and adhering to SOPs. Preferred Skills & Attributes • Experience reconciling PO-to-invoice in a high-volume purchasing environment (e.g., raw materials, finished goods). • Working knowledge of GAAP and e-commerce revenue recognition best practices. • Familiarity with third-party logistics (3PL) invoicing and billing processes. • Exposure to ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Acumatica, Sage) or integrations with Shopify/Amazon for inventory and financial reconciliation. • Ability to develop and optimize Excel macros, VBA scripts, or other automation tools. • Prior exposure to financial reporting for private equity or VC-backed companies is a plus.
