Role description
Position: Onboarding Brand Manager (Amazon) Location: Ypsilanti, MI (fully in-person) Type: Full time, exempt Compensation: $70,000–$90,000 salary, paid time off, and a monthly health stipend Please note: This is a fully on-site role based in Ypsilanti, Michigan. We are building a highly collaborative, hands-on team culture, and remote or hybrid arrangements are not currently being considered. If you're not located in Michigan or open to relocating, this role won’t be the right fit. Overview Ballard House is a founder-led ecommerce accelerator that partners with established brands to scale Amazon operations using our in-house logistics, content creation and advertising infrastructure. Founded in 2017, we began as an Amazon reseller and evolved into brand partnerships in 2023, bringing our operational experience to a select portfolio of legacy-rich, eight and nine-figure brands. We’re hiring an Onboarding Brand Manager to lead onboarding and strategy for newly signed brand partners. You’ll work closely with the CEO, Senior Brand Managers, and the Head of Amazon Operations to evaluate new brand opportunities, build and refine onboarding processes, and ensure every new partner gets off to a strong, fast start. This role is focused on transitioning new brands from signed contract to fully integrated Amazon operations. You’ll collaborate with Sales to understand each brand’s context, then own the onboarding journey before handing them off to a Senior Brand Manager. A great candidate will be someone who can seamlessly collaborate cross-functionally, foster positive relationships with new partners, and create impactful growth for brands during early key months in new partnerships. This is a high-visibility role with direct impact on brand performance and strong exposure to company leadership. For the right person, it’s a launchpad into senior brand ownership and a long-term growth track. What Success Looks Like in This Role • You quickly learn our current pod structure, onboarding systems, and playbooks by working alongside Senior Brand Managers and leadership • You take ownership of onboarding timelines, asset requests, and client expectations, ensuring smooth and professional brand transitions • You identify ways to improve onboarding flows, document gaps, and help shape our evolving SOPs • You build strong, early relationships with clients by combining Amazon fluency with a service mindset • You consistently hand off brands to pod leaders in a way that sets the team and the client up for long-term success Responsibilities and Duties • Own implementation for newly signed brands, including integration into internal systems and completion of crucial first projects • Run client facing onboarding updates and strategy calls, including recommendations of top growth opportunities for next quarter (new product launches, market share growth, etc) • Serve as the primary point of contact for new brand partners during onboarding, with consistent communication through weekly and monthly updates • Collaborate with the advertising team to align campaigns with brand goals, and ensure budgets are used efficiently to drive measurable results • Develop and execute Amazon merchandising strategies across new brand catalogs, including listing optimization, variation structure, keyword coverage, and content enhancements • Analyze content strategies within owned product niches to identify opportunities and threats • Contribute to onboarding process improvement by identifying workflow bottlenecks, refining internal handoff points, and updating SOPs based on real-time feedback Qualifications • 2–5 years of experience in brand management, marketing strategy, or consumer-focused roles, ideally within CPG, DTC, or lifestyle brands • 2+ years experience with Amazon Seller Central and/or Advertising Console • Prior experience in account management or client-facing roles, ideally with ownership of onboarding or project delivery • Proven track record of building and scaling brands—demonstrated impact on brand equity, customer acquisition, and retention • Exceptional project management skills; able to balance multiple campaigns, vendors, and internal stakeholders without dropping the ball • Comfortable rolling up your sleeves in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment. You don’t wait for answers; you hunt them down • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; you know how to influence cross-functional teams and tell a compelling brand story • Bonus: Background in high-growth startup environments, private equity-backed businesses, or turnarounds. You understand speed and accountability This role is for you if: • You think in ASINs, not just SKUs. You understand how ecommerce merchandising, and content optimization work together to win on Amazon • You’ve owned brand strategy within a marketplace context, and know how to pull levers like pricing, promotions, and catalog structure to drive growth • You’re fluent in Amazon metrics: TACoS, CVR, sessions, BSR, share of voice—you don’t just report on them, you act on them • You’ve worked cross-functionally with supply chain, performance marketing, creative, and product teams, and know how to align execution to a P&L • You prefer small biz scrappy to corporate drama and committees • You love to win, and hate losing • You like to clarify the goal, then compress the timeline to completion • You wouldn’t trade your reputation for a short-term win Probably not the right fit if you: • Love the comfort of having an SOP for all situations • Rely on ‘the team’ to get everything done, and don’t feel confident as the doer when those times arise • Don’t like getting into the weeds or managing details across merchandising, creative, and analytics • Get burned out managing multiple projects • Prefer to set easy goals because missing a target feels bad • Want clear playbooks handed to you rather than figuring things out and making your mark on building systems from scratch • Want to work from a beach Benefits We invest in people who move the business forward. We offer competitive compensation and a high-trust, high-performance environment where real strategics can thrive. Perks include: • Paid time off and paid holidays • No bureaucracy or layers of management—just clear goals and real ownership • Work with founders and leadership daily • Tools and training to help you grow in ecommerce and operations • A team that moves fast, wins together, and doesn’t tolerate drama In addition, we provide a monthly health stipend to support coverage until we transition to a full healthcare and retirement package, which is on the roadmap for 2026. Company Core Values These aren’t poster values. We use them to make decisions, hire, fire, and move fast. If they match how you operate, you’ll fit right in. Unimpeachable Character: Be someone others are always proud to associate with, personally and professionally Open and Honest: Feedback is the catalyst for growth Play to Win: Define what it takes to win, then do it Always Moving Forward: We choose relentless positivity How to apply Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. We’re ready when you are. Want to rise to the top? Record a quick 1–3 minute video answering the two prompts below. We don’t care about polish—we care about clarity, energy, and how you think. 1.
