Role description
As an API Enablement Specialist on uShip’s Sales team, you will be directly responsible for driving revenue and adoption of our APIs by guiding customers from onboarding through successful integration and long-term usage. You’ll collaborate closely with Customer Operations to ensure seamless client onboarding, and work with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to make sure our API offerings are well-documented, accessible, and easy to adopt. This is a primarily post-sales role with occasional pre-sales involvement to validate technical feasibility and recommend the best integration approach. Your expertise will help customers launch quickly, adopt deeply, and realize maximum value from uShip’s APIs. What You’ll Be Doing • Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers during onboarding and integration. • Partner with Customer Operations to onboard clients efficiently and ensure a smooth transition into technical integration. • Lead the integration process for Shopify and other eCommerce, ERP, or direct API connections. • Participate in select pre-sales engagements to ensure technical alignment and integration readiness. • Drive post-launch adoption and retention, proactively engaging customers with updates, optimization strategies, and best practices. • Gather customer feedback and partner with Product & Engineering to inform API roadmap priorities. • Create and maintain public-facing API documentation, tutorials, Postman collections, and integration guides. • Manage technical escalations—bug reports, feature requests, and integration issues—between customers and internal teams. • Collaborate with Marketing to produce case studies, white papers, and success stories that highlight API-driven results. Qualifications • Previous experience as an implementation consultant, integration engineer, or comparable role. • Previous experience working directly with prospects and customers to integrate APIs into websites, eCommerce platforms, ERP systems, or similar solutions. • Some technical experience, ideally from a coding bootcamp or past software engineering role. • Expert-level knowledge of RESTful APIs—able to demonstrate and explain API concepts clearly. • Ability to hear a customer use case and creatively apply API functionality to solve it. • Knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols (OAuth, OIDC) and when to apply them. • Expertise with Postman, including creating Postman collections. • Experience with OpenAPI (Swagger) specifications and YAML. • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for both customer-facing and internal engineer-facing communication. • Strong skills communicating with audiences of varying technical experience. • Hands-on experience with Shopify API integrations (bonus for other eCommerce platforms like WooCommerce, Etsy, or Magento). • Familiarity with tools like Salesforce and Jira for tracking work and customer interactions. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in post-sales technical enablement but enjoys occasionally stepping into pre-sales discussions to help win deals. You’ll combine your technical expertise, Shopify knowledge, and customer success mindset to ensure uShip’s APIs become a lasting driver of value and revenue—backed by strong collaboration with the Customer Operations team to onboard clients effectively.
