Role description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to help expand our apparel business. Bespoke Post features innovative products from emerging brands alongside our private label lines. This role includes responsibilities in buying, product development, merchandising, and planning. You'll assist the Buyer in various tasks and be involved in every stage of the buying process. Key responsibilities include analyzing sales data, managing samples, partnering with creative and marketing teams, maintaining vendor relationships, attending trade shows, and ensuring quality assurance. Strong organizational skills and an entrepreneurial spirit are essential for this position. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of our fastest-growing categories.
You will:
β’ Liaise between Buyers and stakeholders across internal teams to ensure timely asset delivery and strong cross-functional communication
β’ Help build vendor relationships and assist in negotiations with new brands while supporting existing partner relations
β’ Manage the pass-off of our product samples to our creative team
β’ Maintain buy sheets with pricing, units, and buy status
β’ Keep seasonal visual assortment tools up to date
β’ Administer pricing and promotions through our backend admin system
β’ Review SKUs (copy, imagery, pricing, etc.) and additional assets for accuracy
β’ QA new PDPs before launch
β’ Maintain the sample tracker log and vendor assets
β’ QA daily emails, seasonal catalogs, and promotional assets
β’ Coordinate with our operations team to ensure timely deliveries that align with our reorder cadence and new product launches
β’ Help to monitor, report, and interpret sales and inventory data
β’ Assist with category assortment planning and product sourcing, and help brainstorm seasonal themes and collections as needed
β’ Maintain awareness of the competitive landscape and customer preferences in our industry
β’ Work out of our New York City office 3+ days per week in a hybrid model
The ideal candidate:
β’ Has 0-2+ years of experience in buying/merchandising
β’ Takes a personal interest in great product, design, and merchandising
β’ Has strong proficiency in retail math and can apply key metrics to the business
β’ Is proficient in Excel/G Suite and has experience creating ad hoc analyses
β’ Has a βno task is beneath meβ attitude. Youβre willing to roll up your sleeves to complete work as needed
β’ Has excellent communication skills and loves working across different departments
β’ Can anticipate vendor issues before they arise, ensuring seamless delivery of products
β’ Can thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with frequent, regularly scheduled deadlines. Youβre flexible and can adapt to shifting goals, plus skilled at handling a wide variety of tasks
