Who We are Looking For
Draper James is hiring an Associate Merchandiser who will report to the VP of Merchandising, Planning & Wholesale and be a key player within our small but growing Merchandising, Planning & Wholesale department. Candidates should be excited to roll up their sleeves and jump into a highly entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment, where efforts will have an immediate impact on strategic direction and business results.
About the Role
· Prepare Omni selling reports
o Analyze sales by style and season to inform in-season actions and future planning
o Summarize key insights from reports, incorporating visuals as needed
· Create and present hindsight reports and presentations to evaluate seasonal performance and compare TY/LY wins, misses and opportunities
· Develop and execute seasonal merchandising line plans to optimize product assortment, SKU, dollar and investment needs
· Assist in the seasonal buy process by suggesting unit buys based on the business needs
· Manage pricing strategies, from initial retails to markdowns and promotional pricing
· Maintain accurate seasonal product guides with key details (pricing, fabric, styles, delivery, etc.)
· Update monthly open-to-buy plans, adjusting future orders, actualizing monthly COGs and BOM/EOM inventory and maintaining accurate style-level data
· Assess stock levels to determine markdown timing, pricing, and reorder needs for fast-selling items
· Analyze size-selling trends to refine future size distributions
· Build PO templates, including size breakdowns, style details, costing, and store allocations
· Sync products from NetSuite to Cart as needed (typically on a seasonal basis)
• Oversee product naming and maintain consistent naming conventions for all new products
• Create and manage products in NetSuite, ensuring accuracy in price, UPC, style number, and cost
• Write purchase orders for seasonal buys, reorders, books, and late additions
• Distribute POs to Production and update product details as needed
Experience & Qualifications
· 2-3 years of experience in fashion merchandising, retail, buying, or a related field
· Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or a related field
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook
· Experience with merchandising software (NetSuite, Shopify) is highly preferred
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
· Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tasks
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
· Resourceful in solving problems and know when to ask for help
This role will be required to be in our NYC office three days a week
