Role description
We are Route Buying stuff online can get messy once you hit that “order” button. Managing dozens carrier tracking links, dealing with lost or damaged packages, and resolving issues with customer support can feel like a wild goose chase. That’s why we created the Route — to make the post-purchase experience for consumers like you, and the brands you love, as seamless as possible. Route is on a mission to connect the world’s commerce. Through our network of millions of Route App users and thousands of merchants, we’re making it easier than ever for consumers to track, insure, and discover their favorite products in one place — which connects the world’s best direct-to-consumer brands to happy, repeat customers. Since Route launched in 2018, we’ve been on a journey to build innovative products that empower our customers, all while fostering a people-first, values-driven company culture. We’re looking for talented people across the ecommerce space to join us on the next steps of this adventure. Don’t just take our word for it! Discover what life at Route has to offer. The Team The Product team plays a pivotal role at Route, creating the strategy and roadmaps that empower our Engineering teams to build innovative products for our merchants and consumers. The Product team is responsible for Route's flagship products, including but not limited to, the Protect widget that serves as the customer-facing tool that allows Route to provide Shipping Protection, Cash Back, Returns and other offers. The team helps shape and support key functions of improving these and other offerings by working closely with cross-functional partners to ensure that feedback is taken into consideration as we move the product closer to reach company objectives. The opportunity We’re looking for a motivated and curious Associate Product Manager. You’ll help shape and support key surfaces like our Package Protection, Cash Back, and early-stage Returns offering, playing a key role in improving operational efficiency, consumer trust, and overall merchant value. This is an ideal role for someone early in their product career who wants exposure to complex B2B & B2C challenges — from designing and executing meaningful A/B experiments to fine tune and make meaningful improvements to scaling Route's post-purchase tools that help millions of shoppers. You’ll work closely with experienced PMs, designers, engineers, and data analysts, and you’ll have a front-row seat to how modern commerce infrastructure gets built. We’re especially excited about candidates who use AI in their daily work — whether to streamline workflows, analyze feedback faster, or generate ideas that drive better business outcomes. What You’ll Do • Support the product development lifecycle for features and systems across the wide array of initiatives that the Protect team covers, ensuring high-quality execution and cross-functional alignment • Partner with Design and Engineering to write clear requirements, test assumptions, and deliver intuitive user experiences • Assist in analyzing customer feedback, product usage, operational data, and fraud trends to uncover insights and guide prioritization • Own small- to medium-sized product initiatives end-to-end — from discovery through delivery and iteration • Use AI tools to streamline analysis, enhance productivity, and inform product decisions (e.g., summarizing tickets, drafting PRDs, automating QA steps) • Collaborate with Route's Solutions and Implementation teams to identify issues in the user journey and recommend scalable solutions • Contribute to team rituals and product culture — from standups and retros to demos and product reviews What We’re Looking For • 1–2 years of experience in a product, operations, or analytics position • Strong written and verbal communication. You are able to translate technical concepts into clear product requirements and user stories • Familiarity with the ecommerce or logistics space, especially around fraud detection, issue resolution, or returns workflows • Familiarity with A/B testing, basic experimentation frameworks, and using data to inform prioritization • Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Notion AI, Claude, etc.) and a strong sense for when and how to apply them in your work • Comfortable working in Figma, JIRA, Google Sheets, or similar tools; bonus points for SQL or experimentation exposure • A bias toward learning, curiosity, and continuous improvement Equal opportunity for all Route is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We embrace diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be. Total Rewards We know our team works best when everyone feels happy, healthy, and supported. We offer to pay 95% - 100% of your health insurance premiums for you and your family, remote or hybrid work arrangements, unlimited PTO, 401k matching, formalized growth opportunities, learning & development, DEI programs & events, and so much more. Pay Transparency Salary for this role: National: $105,000 - $112,000 New York: $119,000 - $126,000 Los Angeles/ Orange County: $114,000 - $121,000 San Francisco Bay Area: $123,000 - $130,000 The cash compensation above includes base salary, and is not reflective of potential commission for employees in eligible roles, or annual bonus targets under Route’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, all Route employees are eligible to participate in Routes equity incentive plan to receive stock options per the terms of the agreement.
